Things have been quiet on this page this week as we are busy learning all the things from Jim Greendyk as he visits a barn in Edmonton AB from Scottsdale Arizona!

Ironically enough, buying one horse (Rouge, pictured) connected me with these lovely folks who then connected me with Jim, which then led to me riding with Jim whenever the opportunity allows whether I am down in Arizona or in Alberta for the summer. Which, ultimately, led me to the show pen.

You never know what one purchase - or sale - might lead to in the future. Life is so cool!

Meet Tugboat, or โ€œTug,โ€ as we have affectionately dubbed him. Heโ€™s the most adorable guy in a perfect-sized package!

Haflingers this cool donโ€™t come along often; Tug is not only adorable, he is getting pretty fancy, and goes both western and english. He loves to jump and has a super cute style over fences.

Tug is an easy ride. While he is more push style, he has an easy go button and three beautiful gaits. He has good stops, the start of his spins, and rollbacks. He is soft in his face and starting to ride in a frame as well. It wonโ€™t be long before he is really fancy; he already wants to offer flying changes without any schooling!

Where Tug shines is with jumps in front of him: he absolutely loves it. He has zero stop whatsoever and is brave to the jumps, does not rush, and can take a joke. Got a bad distance? No worry, he wonโ€™t hold it against you. He has jumped up to 2โ€™6 but can easily go higher; he has just begun to jump and itโ€™s clear he would excel in this area!

Tug handles time off well and can sit for a couple weeks and come back the same horse. He does not need to be ridden every day. We do not lunge him - just get on and go.

Tug has been ridden on trails, however, he is still a little bit nervous out of the arena, so he could use more miles in this area; he does ride out alone and is not overly reactive or spooky, just not a head down, โ€œgit alongโ€ type.

Tug has good ground manners, and is easy to catch, tie, load, trim, etc. He has been ground driven and could possibly be started in team harness with a solid partner.

Tug could suit a variety of riders. A keen kid could have a ton of fun with him. In the arena he could pack around almost any rider. However, Tug will be best with someone that is confident. Tug is very gentle but he needs a person who can be firm when needed. He is incredibly sweet but not the type who can be spoiled. He has absolutely zero buck, bolt, or rear, and no bite, kick, or nip.

Tug is currently barefoot, sound, and UTD on everything. No history of founder. He requires no maintenance and is ready to be enjoyed.

And yes - he does grow a full tail! He buddied up to our yearlings and they decided to chew it this spring. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ™ˆ

โ€œYouโ€™ll need something to lean on. A thing that wonโ€™t cast judgment when you mess up in life. Because, you will often, itโ€™s just part of growing up and becoming a decent human.

A creature who will be there for you when you cry for hours after someone you love lets you down. He will teach you to check all the noise in your head and completely listen to what he is saying.

Something that will keep you truly humbled yet teach you how to fly!

You need to understand the painful reality of death. Sometimes itโ€™s ok to let go.

That kindness will always be rewarded before the use of force. And that courage means trusting him to get you safely to the other side.

Something to get you out of bed in the trying times. When you feel like you have nothing he will remind you that you are still wanted.

Something to give you perspective about whatโ€™s really important in life.

Youโ€™ll need a best friend. Do not take this relationship lightly. It just might save your life someday when you see no out. Treasure it always; Iโ€™m trusting it to you to take care of for a reason.
