This year, Kootenay Carshare Cooperative is celebrating 25 years of helping build a more connected, accessible, and sustainable community. As a member-owned co-operative, they've shown how sharing resources can strengthen communities while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

If you know a local community organization looking to get a project, program or initiative off the ground let us know!

Applications for our community grants are open and the deadline is just around the corner on August 1st. There are 4 grants, each up to $1,000, available for community projects or initiatives that help strengthen and support our community. Previous grants have been awarded for environmental education, community garden projects, local food security programs and public health initiatives.

We don't play about our True Local farmers during the summer months (or ever)! Local suppliers are at the heart of your Co-op, and summer is when the Kootenays' abundance is truly on display. When you shop with us, you're helping us invest in local farms, food producers, and our regional economy.

Because of your support as a member, we're able to direct more dollars back into our community every year. Thank you for helping us keep local food thriving.

The Building Blocks of Local Food 🧱
Kootenay Farms Food Hub is buying their building in Creston. Commercial kitchens, cold storage, processing space, giving East and West Kootenay producers what they need to work as one region instead of two.

Your Co-op just made its largest single donation ever, $10,000, to help them get there.

The Food Hub has already generated $1.6 million in regional economic activity, keeping that money and that food close to home. Owning their building means more funding, more room to grow, more security for the farmers and producers who depend on them.

They're still fundraising, open to businesses and individuals alike. Link in bio if you want to be part of it.

This month we're supporting SKY Coordinated Response, a rural model that coordinates support for children and youth who've experienced abuse, without a single brick-and-mortar centre. Care providers across the West Kootenays work together so kids and families can get help close to home, wherever they live.
