The Stratus team was delighted to celebrate today as Geneviève Piché of Air Canada was named a winner of a VQA Promoters Award – nominated by Charles Baker of Stratus Vineyards and Charles Baker Riesling.
In her role as Product Manager, Culinary Programs, with Air Canada, Geneviève has the unique opportunity to shape the wine experience for a national and international audience. She had a vision: to build a wine program that delivers exceptional quality and value, while actively supporting our domestic economy and promoting Canada as a world-class culinary destination.
In her nomination, Geneviève said, “In Ontario, I discovered a wine community defined by collegiality and a shared understanding that collective success strengthens the entire region. This collaborative spirit has made it possible to develop meaningful partnerships and champion wines of outstanding quality.”
One of the most significant outcomes of her work has been the creation of the all-Canadian wine list in Air Canada’s Signature Suite, as well as expanded representation across their Maple Leaf Lounges in Ontario. They have proudly purchased and served thousands of cases of Ontario VQA wines.
To again quote Geneviève, “My commitment is rooted in both professional responsibility and personal conviction that Canadian wines deserve a place among the best in the world.”
Charles added in his nomination, “I am convinced Geneviève’s action is the boldest statement yet: she placed our wines in front of a clientele that can frankly drink whatever they want from anywhere on the planet.”
