Every year, orange carries weight for our Indigenous communities. 🧡

It’s the colour of Every Child Matters, worn each September to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities — including people from communities close to our own here at Neqotkuk.

We’ve grown up around people who carried these experiences quietly for years, and we’ve seen what it can take to speak about them out loud.

It matters to us to mark this day with intention and to take time to listen, learn and reflect.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — a day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors, their families and communities, and to reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system.
Today, we wear orange. We remember. We honour. We reflect. 🧡

Our founder and CEO, Jolene Johnson, is headed to the Indigenous Women in Industry Summit next week!
She’s honoured to sit on the panel Trade Without Borders: Indigenous Women Going Global and is looking forward to meeting and connecting with so many other incredible Indigenous women entrepreneurs.
