We’re taking a few days to recharge after a busy and incredibly rewarding haskap season. Thank you to everyone who visited the farm stand, shared our posts, and supported our little farm this summer. 💙

The farm stand will be closed for the BC Day long weekend, but if you’re looking for frozen haskaps, just send us a PM!

Hand-picked frozen haskaps
• 3 lb bags - $20

Every berry is hand-picked, carefully sorted, frozen in a single layer on flat sheets to preserve quality, then bagged and kept frozen until you’re ready to enjoy them. They’re perfect for baking, smoothies, jams, syrups, or straight from the freezer.

When we reopen, you’ll notice a few changes. We’re giving the farm stand a bit of a refresh to make it more accessible and adding even more of our farm products.

Nearly two years ago, during the Jasper wildfires, we opened our little farm to anyone needing a safe place to land. While no one ended up taking us up on the offer, we were proud to make it.

Today, with communities like Clinton, Boston Bar, 70 Mile House, and so many others facing evacuation, we’d like to do the same.

If you’ve been displaced and need a quiet place to regroup, we can offer space for an RV and welcome small animals. As before, we especially want members of the q***r community to know that you will always find a safe, welcoming place here. 🌈

If you or someone you know could use a refuge, please send us a private message. Even if we can’t help directly, we’ll do our best to connect you with someone who can.

It’s one of our last evenings with the full spring Manx litter all together, and somehow they still end up in one sleepy little pile by nightfall.

They’ve discovered the house stretches well beyond the nursery, and they’re quickly learning that if you wait beside a door long enough, the outdoors may eventually reveal itself too. But when the cool evening settles in, they still find each other again, making sure a familiar human or hound is close by before drifting off into kitten dreams of kneading bread and baking tiny croissants.

And yes, the only tailed one in the bunch, sweet little Dobby, is still waiting for her family to find her.

Our little egg stand received the sweetest surprise this week.

For the life of me, I can’t find the note that came with it, but I believe this beautiful little glass egg was a gift from Sawyer. Please correct us if I’ve got that wrong!

This is exactly why we do what we do. Our egg stand may be small, but it has connected us with such thoughtful and wonderful people in our community. This little treasure has already found its permanent home on our kitchen windowsill, where the sunlight makes it glow.

Sawyer, or whoever our mystery artist may be, thank you. We absolutely love it.

Farm life gets wonderfully curious this time of year.

Every day seems to bring a new surprise. Mystery plants appear where we don’t remember planting them. The kittens have discovered they have legs, which has dramatically increased the amount of chaos around the farm. The young geese are venturing farther each day, learning every corner of the property and finding their place in the flock.

And then there are the peacocks.

Tonight they traded their usual haunts for a pair of lofty perches overlooking the lake, quietly supervising the evening. Equal parts observers, alarm birds, and curious goofballs, they’re always the first to notice when something is happening, and usually the first to let everyone else know, too.

See if you can spot both of them. We promise they’re in there.

Through no fault of her own, Dobby is once again looking for her forever family.

Dobby is a one-of-a-kind little Manx cross with the only full tail in Fiadh’s litter. She’s confident, affectionate, endlessly curious, and has been raised right here on our homestead alongside dogs, cats, geese, visitors, and all the sights and sounds of country life.

She’s a natural with litter, happily eating kibble, loves to play, and then curls up for the sweetest naps. She’s been raised by an exceptional mother and has had the best start we could have hoped for.

We’re not looking for just any home. We’re looking for her home. If that doesn’t come along, she’s staying with us.

Cold rain finally settled over the farm today, and we couldn’t have been happier.

Instead of turning up the furnace, we fired up the oven and the stovetop.

Haskap season rolled into its next chapter as the first batches of pancake syrup simmered away. Outside, we rendered our Dexter beef tallow while nearly 25 pounds of tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic slowly roasted into what we hope will become a rich soup concentrate for the pantry. All of the veg was finished with one of our favourite pantry staples: butter olive oil from Olive the Good Things.

The whole house smells incredible.

Somewhere between stirring pots, checking roasting pans and sneaking tastes, the kittens demanded far more attention than they strictly needed, and somehow Chris and I have managed to stay dead even in Yahtzee.

Days like this don’t produce much for social media. They produce shelves for winter, meals shared together, and a home that smells like hard work paying off.

Tonight’s menu? Roasted red pepper, garlic and tomato soup made from today’s harvest. We have a feeling it’s going to be a good one!

Meet Sprout & Dobby

The firstborn sisters. The first climbers. First eaters. First litter box graduates. First wrestlers. If there was a milestone to reach, these two were usually there first.

Sprout (our little girl without a tail, and the spitting image of her mother) and Dobby (the only kitten in the litter with a tail, and definitely knows it) are growing into confident, curious little adventurers.

We’ve decided to keep Bran and Briar, our two black furballs. Harrison, the last born, but quickly advancing otter, found his home almost instantly with Wild at Heart Farm.

So we’re looking for the right homes for these ladies. Manx cross (we think🤷‍♂️) Persian 😆

Our hope is to find them rural homes where they can truly be cats; free to roam the woods, patrol the garden, chase grasshoppers, and come home at sunset. We firmly believe cats weren’t meant to spend their lives indoors.

Raised on our homestead alongside dogs, other cats, and plenty of daily adventure, they’ll be ready for their next chapter in just a few weeks.

The cooler is stocked for the weekend.

We picked our first haskaps less than a week ago, and it’s amazing how quickly the season changes. A few warm days and humid nights have taken these berries from bright and tart to beautifully sweet, while still keeping that unmistakable haskap flavour.

Haskaps don’t stay at their peak for long. Right now they’re fresh, sweet, and perfect for snacking, baking, or freezing to enjoy later.

Approx. 12 oz baskets are $10 each, or 3 for $28.

Hand-picked here on our homestead. Grown by nature and love alone.
