As we begin to see summer winding down and anticipate the cooler nights in fall along with family celebrations, I decided to create an assortment of simmer pots. Each one is designed to give your home a cozy fall feeling with beautifully natural aromas. Which one do you think would be your favourite??

Each day this week my 5 year old has brought home a gift or surprise for me. I am happy and proud that he is able to recognize something that can be turned into something healthful or medicinal. My very energetic little guy is able to remember and find these treasures. ❤️

I was not planning to forage today but sometimes it just happens…..by accident???? Good thing I had my shirt with a pouch!!! I took the kids to their second park of the day after pulling invasive plant species in the morning. I stumbled upon some green pine cones so figured, why not make Mugolio. I have learned that it is of Italian origin and is highly prized some places. It takes a bit of time to let the cones release their vitamin C goodness and make a medicinal syrup that can be used to soothe coughs but tasty enough to use on pancakes. We shall see if this one turns out. 🤞🏻

I decided the other day to try making Nocino using I ripened black walnuts with the addition of spices and sweet woodruff. After discovering that my “spot” to collect the walnuts was no more my fellow foraging friend pulled through for me and graciously shared some of his black walnuts with me. These will go to rest in a cool dark place for the next month until it is time to strain and add some maple syrup and water, then the tannins need to mellow out for roughly another six months. I hope this turns out. Thanks again Rick Irwin.

Mullein, I believe it is on the invasive species list. And I can appreciate why. I will post my videos next. However invasive this plant is, it is still medicinal. The flowers and flower buds I plan to make an ear oil to treat any kind of ear pain my kids have.

I think I have a bit of a currant situation happening here.See what I did there???

🌿 It’s Garlic Scape Season! 🌿

One of the best parts of summer has arrived! We have Garlic Scape Butter and Garlic Scape Pesto in the market, lovingly foraged and handcrafted locally by Found Foraging.

Garlic scapes have a mild, sweet garlicky flavour that adds a fresh twist to so many dishes. Toss the pesto with hot pasta or pillowy gnocchi, spread it on sandwiches, swirl it into soups, or serve it with grilled chicken or fish. The garlic butter is incredible melted over a perfectly grilled steak, brushed onto corn on the cob, or slathered on warm savoury scones or fresh bread.

Stop by the market and pick up a tub while garlic scape season lasts!
