Silage season didn’t exactly go according to plan this year… and neither did tarping the pit. 🌾

There were breakdowns, changes of plans, long days and more than a few moments where we wondered how it was all going to come together.

But that’s farming.

You make a plan, Mother Nature and machinery make a few edits, and you figure it out as you go. Everyone pitches in, you adapt, and somehow the job gets done.

It may not have happened the way we planned, but the silage is in, the pit is covered, and in the end, it all worked out.

Sometimes success on the farm isn’t about everything going right — it’s about finding a way forward when it doesn’t.

Standing the test of time…

For 105 years, this old barn has stood at Cudlobe. It’s weathered storms, hard winters, dry years and more change than we could ever begin to imagine. It isn’t perfect anymore — the boards are weathered, the years are showing, and she might even lean a little — but she’s still standing.

In a lot of ways, she feels like a reflection of the operation around her.

Cudlobe has never been built on everything going perfectly. It’s been built generation by generation, through good years and hard ones, adapting when needed while holding onto the values that got us here in the first place.

There have been trials, tribulations, mistakes and plenty of lessons learned along the way. But just like this old barn, the foundation has remained strong.

Years later, both are still standing, still changing, and still looking toward what comes next.

A little weathered. A little imperfect. But built to last. ❤️
