My cousin’s kids really liked Swiss Chalet while they were here that they went 3 times! I unashamedly say that Swiss Chalet is my favourite restaurant but 3 times in a week is a bit much even for me.

I miss HK cafes. When I had to go to North York, I took advantage and headed to 松屋 Pine House Cafe. We got the borscht soup with our meals of Hainan chicken rice and baked pork chops. K told me that baked pork chops is her most favourite meal ever and even ranks above sushi, which is huge. -A

We finally went to Mamma Martino's and it did not disappoint. Pasta dishes under $20 is almost unheard of these days. We started with a caprese salad, bruschetta, and garlic bread. For the mains, we shared a large pizza (which we only tackled half), seafood linguine, spaghetti and meatballs and a veal parmigiana. I love that the pasta is made fresh.

Someone told me to get the green salad next time so looks like I have to make another trip here! -A

My cousin was in town for a few weeks and he said he’s never had Hakka food before. We went to Hakka Ren and were in time for the lunch specials. From brightest to darkest: sweet and sour chicken (too sweet), Szechuan chicken (good flavour), chilli chicken (the staple, nice and garlicky), and Manchurian chicken (sweeter than chilli chicken, this one I liked better). -A

Another yearly camping trip, this year with a group of 28 people!

I don't have any pics of dinner, but we had tacos, burgers/hot dogs, and pasta on the 3 nights. Late night we had a nacho tray that was really delicious. We burnt the bottom a little, but it was a good way to use up the taco beef. Someone had a huge grill, which was convenient for making large quantities of food. I did a lot of breakfast cooking and the precooked bacon was so fast on it. Hasbrowns were also easy to cook on a nice flat surface.

We had some Kawartha ice cream from the Killbear General store.

For S'mores, we used celebration cookies. While convenient, it makes it too sugary, as graham crackers usually balances the sugar of the other ingredients.

It rained all weekend, which was sucky. We had enough shelter, but everything being Andy and wet sucked. -N

McDonalds has a promotion on McDonald foods from around the world. These garlic and black pepper chicken McNuggets from Japan were pretty tasty, better than the regular version.

This pulled pork sandwich from Spain with crispy onions was very mid. They put so little topping on this, I went up to ask them about it and they said it was normal. Poor ex*****on and I don't know why it is from Spain either.

Normally I avoid McDonalds but they are too convenient and the kids like it. -N
