Rural Roots Family Farm

Rural Roots Family Farm We are a small family farm raising beef cattle, and laying hens. Our animals are bred and raised on our farm, allowing us to care for them individually.

I hope you choose to try our meat and see what difference passion makes. My husband Mike and I both grew up on family farms and we want to raise our two children on our family farm. We will provide our customers with food that is grown locally, sustainably, ethically, and without the use of antibiotics or hormones. We want give our consumers a clear view of how their food is humanly raised and the opportunity to learn about traditional farming practices. We farm because we enjoy it.

Our hay field is ready to be cut for the second time. Second cut is rich in protein heavy legumes such as alfalfa and red clover. We have a rather large patch of thyme, I'm sure it was planted by the previous owners many years ago. Every year it gets a little bigger, and it smells beautiful! Maybe that is why our beef is so delicious, it's already marinated??

We were fortunate to bale about 1600 bales of hay over 4 very hot, days 🔥

Just as we were trying to finish, but waiting for it to cool down a bit, mother nature picked up the neat rows and reorganized them.

The temperature dropped by 10 degrees and we headed home, leaving the rest to try again another day...

spoiler alert, it also rained on us as we were finishing... some things are doomed!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandpa's, step dad's, and the people who help raise us!

When I was a child I gave my dad a leather key ring that had been etched with "Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad" That sentiment is very true ❤️ I miss him very much!

We are fortunate to have Mike's dad coming to join us today. I'm so glad my kids get to have a Grandpa to love and learn from. Wes is dedicated to being here, from all the way across the province, for all the big moments and will get to see Reid Irwin's grade 8 graduation tomorrow.

Mike gets to enjoy another Father's Day by doing hay! I wish I thought the cattle appreciated this as much as I do...
