Three lessons we can learn from the Sebastopol geese. Unlike wild migratory geese, Sebastopol geese are an ornamental, curly-feathered domestic breed that still teaches us unique lessons about life.

1. Sebastopol geese are known for being a docile barnyard addition. They have a softer honking melody than other varieties. Reminding us that gentle dispositions are beautiful and desirable.

2. The long "frizzled" feathers give this variety of geese a whimsical, fairy-tale look that is often prized by buyers, increasing their value and worth. Yet those same curly feathers also absorb water and mud easily, preventing the Sebastopol geese from flying. This reminds us that what makes us unique is often our strength, but it may also come with limitations/weaknesses we should be aware of. Acknowledging those details can help us shine in our environment and avoid other harmful situations.

3. Because of the Sebastopol geese's unique feather structure, they are completely flightless. Instead of soaring in V-shaped patterns from one end of the continent to another, they spend their days grazing, caring for their young, and waddling slowly. They remind us that we don't have to join the fast-paced lives we see others living to live a meaningful life. Contentment is of great value.

Looking to start a flock of friendly geese? We can help!

We have several ganders and geese (females) to pick from, who are looking for their new homes 😃

These geese were hatched April/may 2026 and have been doted on, raised and handled by myself and my two small children.

They are great for keeping with your chickens as the ganders keep an eye on the sky for predators and alert the entire flock. No joke! I’ve watched the ganders let out their warning screech and chicks and chickens run for cover. They don’t come back out until the ganders are quiet and start moving around again.

Geese are bossy though so make sure your chickens have a no goose zone in their coop so they can take a break 😂 my coop has a low divider which keeps the geese out of one half.

ISO of part time help with the following:

Cleaning chicken/goose coops. One portion of a coop needs to be cleaned, and straw replaced, daily. That takes approximately 30 minutes if you are focused and move quickly

Daily Mixing of feed for chickens and geese

Daily Dumping out one kiddie pool, poultry waterers and refilling with the hose located right at the pen. Refresh kiddie pool as needed while working.

Daily Raking of poultry pen and 3 small runs. Runs raked as needed.

Additional farm chores, and yard work, are available to add to your hours, as I have them.

Looking for help 1-3x a week to help with chores on days I’m not available

This is light, easy work suitable for a teenager, and older, who is available during the day.

Flexible on start times but prefer no later than 10am.

$15/hour UNDER THE TABLE (equivalent to approximately $20/hr, paid as an employee)
Increased pay available, If you prove to be a fast worker and are reliable.

Located 1/2 hour east of Westlock. In between Clyde and Thorhild.

1 black, bearded silkie rooster. Must have all the typical silkie traits and be as close to SOP as possible. Show me pics, if you’re unsure

Egyptian Fayoumi hens and/or chicks,

Gold laced Brahma chicks. Looking for parents as close to SOP as possible (minus the colouring) and sharp lacing

Salmon faverolles. Also looking for parents as close to SOP as possible.
