So proud of these three humans and their animals, and of our whole Sunniebend 4-H Club who had a heck of a day in the ring.
Through flooded pens, cold toes, long days, and tired steers, these kids rolled with it all and made the very best of it.
Brooks and “Tex” crushed the Cleaver Show. Hopefully Tex will be back next year as Brooks’ first-year junior member steer… once he convinces his dad that Tex should become a steer. 🤣
Avery and “Zeus” weighed in at 1,580 lbs with an average daily gain of 3.49 lbs/day. Avery handled him like a pro and came home with:
• Champion Junior Sunniebend Steer
• 2nd place Jr. Steer Grooming
• Westlock District Reserve Champion Jr. Showman
Lincoln and big boy “Jet” weighed in at 1,710 lbs with an average daily gain of 4 lbs/day. He was named:
• 2nd Place Steer Grooming
• Sunniebend Club Champion Steer and looked real good in that championship drive.
A huge thank you to and for purchasing the kids’ steers. These projects wouldn’t be possible without businesses and community members who support our local 4-H kids.
We also came home to supper ready for the oven (and a few cold beverages) thanks to our amazing friends and neighbours at . They had to navigate all the obstacles we’d left scattered around the house after two days away, and somehow still managed to fill our fridge. We are so thankful for friends like Kelsey, Hazel and the Sheehan crew.
Thank you to all the leaders, volunteers, organizers, and judges who make days like this possible. And a special thanks to Chloe and Riley for stepping in when we needed a little extra muscle. And to the grandmas and pas who help tie up steers with whatever little people aren’t as baseball on any given night.
Days like today remind us how lucky we are to be part of this community.
We sure love our village.
