Brought all the girls home today ,taken early off range and Ty’s place ..no grass☹️This is the only field I’ve got with green grass as it borders the creek,the other fields not great,I’m sure we will be feeding early💸💰💵🌾

Things are very difficult in BC right now. People are going through something unimaginable to most of us. In times like this it’s easy to feel helpless and hopeless.

So let me tell you about the Range Riders. ♥️

With the horrendous wildfires burning in BC, there are so many people showing incredible courage.

And in ranch country, some of those people are “Range Riders”.

When fire threatens and cattle are scattered across Crown range, these skilled riders head out on horseback or ATV to find them, gather them and move them away from danger.

Just think about what that means.

While most of us would instinctively be moving away from a wildfire, these folks are saddling up to help ranching families protect their animals and livelihoods.

It takes skill. It takes a deep understanding of cattle and the land. And it takes courage.

This is an incredible partnership between the provincial government and the BC Cattlemen’s Association.
The BCCA manages the program, and provides training and support.

When wildfire threatens, Range Riders are generally activated through the BC Wildfire Service command post, working alongside Rancher Liaisons and Agriculture Coordinators as part of the broader emergency response.

This program it is about people showing up in an incredible way.

When a ranching family is already watching the sky, worrying about the fire, their home, their animals and everything they’ve worked for, having an experienced ranch hand show up, the message is this, help is here, let’s try and get those cattle somewhere safe.

It means everything at that moment.

The BC Cattlemen’s Association makes. sure the right people are trained and ready.

Good people, good partnerships and a whole lot of heart.

There is an awful lot of courage on display in B.C. right now.

And an awful lot of heart.
