Beautiful gardens can feed you too. 🫒

An edible garden is about more than growing food. It’s about creating a space that brings beauty, flavour, seasonality and daily connection into your life.

What I love about edible gardens is that they can be both practical and deeply enjoyable. A few well-designed beds, the right mix of herbs, greens, fruiting plants and useful perennials, and suddenly the garden becomes part of everyday living in a whole new way.

It can be a place to pick fresh herbs for dinner, harvest seasonal produce, learn how plants grow, reconnect with the rhythms of the year, and enjoy the satisfaction of eating something from your own space.

And it doesn’t have to be a large or overly complex setup. Edible gardens can be designed to suit different homes, lifestyles and levels of involvement, from productive raised beds and kitchen gardens to integrated plantings that combine food, beauty and pollinator-friendly species.

For me, the best edible gardens are not only productive. They also feel inviting, abundant and alive.

They make a home more connected, more useful and more meaningful.

If you’d like to create an edible garden for your home, I’d love to help.

A garden that gives back. 🌱

Native gardens offer more than beauty. They bring movement, sound, colour and life into a space in a way that feels deeply connected to place.

By using native plants, you’re not only creating a beautiful landscape — you’re also helping support pollinators, birds and local wildlife, while contributing to a healthier and more resilient environment.

What I love about native gardens is the way they can completely change how a space feels. The textures, the flowering cycles, the shifting colours, the sound of birds visiting, the presence of insects and small wildlife — all of it makes the garden feel more alive.

They can also be a practical choice. When planting is suited to the local climate and conditions, the garden often becomes more balanced, more resilient and easier to maintain over time.

For me, native gardens are about creating spaces that are not only beautiful to look at, but meaningful to live with.

A garden can be visually stunning, support biodiversity, attract wildlife and feel like it truly belongs where it is.

If you’d like to create a native garden for your home or business, I’d love to help.

The kind of garden you didn’t know you needed — until now. 🌿

A sensory garden is more than something beautiful to look at. It’s a space designed to be experienced through colour, texture, fragrance, movement and taste.

This one was created at .botanicgardens in a highly visited area right in front of the restaurant, where people come to sit, have breakfast or enjoy lunch surrounded by plants.

In these small circular garden beds, I combined native species with aroma and culinary value, alongside other edible plants, traditional herbs and visually striking textures and colours. The idea was to create a space that feels inviting and alive — one that people can enjoy up close, while also attracting wildlife and supporting a richer garden experience.

What makes this project even more special is that part of what grows here is used directly by the restaurant in their dishes. So the garden becomes more than a feature of the space — it becomes part of the experience itself.

A sensory garden can bring together:
— beauty
— biodiversity
— edible value
— native planting
— daily enjoyment

A garden can do much more than fill a space. It can connect people to nature in a more direct, memorable and meaningful way.

Hello, I’m Federico, founder of The Nook. 🌾

With a background in environmental law and a lifelong love for plants, I now design living landscapes here in Australia — spaces that bring people closer to nature.
I grow, plant, and ferment as a way to reconnect with what’s real and alive, both in the soil and in ourselves. 🌱

Over the years, I’ve spent my life between gardens, landscapes and kitchens — learning from the land and from the people who care for it in different corners of the world.
Each place, each culture, has its own way of understanding nature, and I try to bring a bit of that wisdom into every project I work on.

My work blends edible gardens, native landscapes and fermented foods — because I believe nature isn’t something we step into, it’s something we live in.
That’s what The Nook is about: creating, learning and sharing ways to live in balance with the world around us. 🌿💚

The Nook was born from a simple idea: reconnecting with what’s essential —
nature, our food, and the spaces we live in. 🌱

We are part of nature, yet we often forget to live in tune with it.
Through edible gardens, living foods, and native landscapes,
I want to show how small, conscious actions can transform not only our surroundings
but also the way we live and feel every day.

What you’ll find here:
🌱 Inspiration to create your own edible garden.
🍶 Simple fermentation recipes that nourish body and soul.
🌸 Native landscaping ideas to attract life and restore balance.

✨ The Nook is more than an educational space — it’s a way of living in connection.
Of observing, learning, and creating in harmony with the nature and all it involves.

Join me on this journey — from seed to garden,
from the garden to the table, and from the table back to the earth. 🌾💚
