Apsley Farms is a family-run farm and contractor, growing crops for our Biogas plant. We produce enough renewable energy to heat 8,500 houses all year round. By-products of green gas include sustainable gardening products and supplying bulk food-grade CO2 to the food and beverage industry

Here at Apsley Farms, we turn farm and crop material into renewable energy.

Since we started exporting biomethane to the national grid, we estimate we've cut UK CO2 emissions by 250,000 tonnes.

That's equivalent to 1.7 billion miles on a jumbo jetโœˆ๏ธ

It's a bit early for mulching season, but there's good reason to remember why our mulch is so popular.

It's used by professional gardeners up and down the country, including a number of teams at RHS Wisley, Mottisfont and The Eden Project.

After our long hot summer, compacted soil is not the gardener's friend. Our mulch will protect the soil from the beatings of heavy rain and encourage the worms to turn the earth beneath, keeping it aerated.

We know the weather's changing, so it's very important to make a note in your diary and be ready to put your garden to bed for winter under a protective blanket of our Soil Association-approved mulch.

Our anaerobic digester is a big part of our farm - but it's not the whole farm.

We have 1,150 acres, a mile of chalk stream river, and an old railway line running through the estate.

Here's a little glimpse of what makes this such a special place.

Donโ€™t be fooled by the endless summer heat. Autumn is coming, and it could be very wet.

A 3โ€ layer of our peat-free mulch locks in moisture and stops run-off from dry, compacted soil - so when the rain does come, it soaks in instead of washing away.

It's perfect for no-dig gardening, too - just spread it on your borders and it does the work for you.

Order now, and youโ€™ll be ready to get to work the moment October arrives.

๐ŸŒฑ It's still Allotment Week - and there's no better time to get mulching.

A good layer of our sustainable, peat-free mulch now helps lock in moisture, suppress weeds, and set your plot up for a strong season ahead.

We have our own fleet of vans, using 5m cranes to drop our mulch bags as close to your plot as possible to save you the wheelbarrow work.

We'll confirm your delivery day, then our driver will call on the day with an ETA so you can meet him at the gates.

Last year, we delivered to over 1,000 plots within our free delivery area - and autumn is always busy, so get your order in now!

Top tip: Make savings by ordering as a group. Each van can deliver 16 bags in one trip. Rally your fellow plot-holders and call us on 01264 554433.

It's National Allotments Week ๐ŸŒฑ

Temperatures are climbing again this week, and your plot is going to need a bit of extra help to stay hydrated.

A good mulch around your plants helps lock in moisture, keep roots cool, and slow evaporation during the hottest part of the day.

Combined with watering early morning or late evening, it's one of the simplest ways to keep crops going, even through this extraordinarily dry summer.

Whether you're protecting this year's harvest or prepping beds for autumn planting, a layer of mulch makes a real difference when the heat is on.

Our sustainable, peat-free mulch is perfect for topping up beds, borders and containers.
