Kimpton Manor Apple Press Bring us your apples (or pears) and we will press your fruit, bottle the juice, and pasteurise it

Bring as many of your garden apples or pears as you can and we will press, bottle and pasteurise them at our Hampshire apples press with no additives or preservatives. To complete the process we then individually brand each bottle with your own customised label. We accept all apples (not the rotten ones though!), and you can blend different varieties of apple, creating different flavours of juice.

At Kimpton we specialise in pressing apples, however we can also press strawberries, raspberries and elderflower; any fruit without a stone will go into the belt press.

Most recently we have laid out pheromone traps, to catch any remaining ermine moth that haven’t hatched yet. We’ve been advised to put these at head height, to be the most efficient and catch that hatch.
Let’s hope for a good harvest, now that the trees are happy and clear again!

Ermine moth update: part4! 🐛 having cleaned the trees of cobwebs and larva, we sprayed the trees with diluted washing up liquid and water, and the leaves and shoots appear to be recovering, with some trees bearing fruit which is fantastic. More to show…

A little vigilance and timely action against ermine moth on apple trees (not pear, plumbs or other fruit, I see!) can usually prevent ermine moths from becoming more than a passing nuisance in the fruit garden 🍎🌿

Please share ideas, and I’ll post an update when the pheromone traps have been put out, as that’s our next port of call.

In a cottage orchard, keep a watchful eye from late spring onwards for silky webs, clusters of small pale caterpillars, and patches of leaves being eaten. If you spot them early, simply prune out affected shoots or remove and dispose of the webbing by hand. Encouraging birds into the orchard, maintaining good tree health, and checking trees regularly are often all that’s needed to keep populations in balance. But if not, the trees will end up bare like these ones!

🐛⚠️ Ermine moth! These are a common orchard pest whose caterpillars spin silken webs around branches and foliage, often leaving apple trees looking as though they’ve been draped in gauze. While a healthy, established tree will usually recover, heavy infestations can strip leaves and weaken growth. Come and have a look with us...
