The Year of The Cabbage starts here, at .

Our first cabbages of the year are sown in our nursery. Each tiny seed is placed using a Minoru seeder before being carefully grown and germinated with the help of our new Dutch trolley system.

This initial sowing includes Kalibos and Duncan cabbages. These are early varieties that will be planted out at the beginning of April, as part of a wider succession that will see more than 15,000 cabbages grown across the season.

A small beginning - with a long rewarding journey ahead.

As we look to replenish our restaurants and larders, we’re excited to be seeing steady progress from our garlic plantings, which were only just emerging in December.

Now, the shoots are stronger and more established - an encouraging start for one of next season’s key crops.

Our rye grass and vetch cover crops are also establishing well, helping to protect soil structure, prevent nutrient loss through the colder months, and return fresh organic matter to the ground.

Each sign of growth hints at what will arrive in the kitchens later this spring and summer, including these artichokes destined for
