A late summer update from Our Farm.
August is one of the most abundant times of the year here in Cartmel, with tomatoes, cucumbers and climbing beans in full swing, alongside the last of our summer fruits.
Our Japanese wineberries have made their way south to , while more than 40,000 Red Baron onions have been harvested and are now curing. We’re also clamping our Crimson Globe beetroot to preserve the harvest for use later in the year, with our grapes almost ready to pick too.
And while we’re enjoying the best of summer, we’re already looking ahead. Winter crops are going into the ground and new sowings of kale, chard, leeks and edible flowers are underway for the seasons to come.
Always growing, harvesting and planning for what’s next at Our Farm.
