Update | 12 June on Our Farm.

Following a warm, dry May, the rain arrived just in time, bringing a welcome boost to the fields and polytunnels as summer begins to take shape.

The work never stops here.

From sowing and planting to harvesting produce for our restaurants across the UK, every day brings something new. The chefs have been spending time at the farm selecting ingredients that will help shape the season’s menus, while the team continues to nurture the crops that will appear on plates in the weeks and months ahead.

And, of course, the Year of the Cabbage continues. We’re delighted to see the first succession of Duncan cabbages thriving in the field after beginning life in the nursery earlier this year.

One of the highlights of the month was welcoming guests to June’s ‘A day at Our Farm’ event. Seeing people experience the farm, meet the team and connect with the story behind the food was incredibly rewarding, and a reminder of why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the team who absolutely smashed it.

Until next month.

The Year of The Cabbage starts here, at .

Our first cabbages of the year are sown in our nursery. Each tiny seed is placed using a Minoru seeder before being carefully grown and germinated with the help of our new Dutch trolley system.

This initial sowing includes Kalibos and Duncan cabbages. These are early varieties that will be planted out at the beginning of April, as part of a wider succession that will see more than 15,000 cabbages grown across the season.

A small beginning - with a long rewarding journey ahead.
