Hi everyone! I am doing a charity bake sale next week to get money out to my friends in Transnistria ASAP.
I met this amazing family when I went travelling in 2019, they welcomed me in their hostel, fed me and my friends, and we spent many hours talking about life, their struggles, politics, and what it is like for them to live where they do (if you’re unsure of the situation over there, please give it a quick Google👍🏻).
Since the pandemic they have not been able to earn money and have been relying on donations. Just as tourists start visiting again, Russia invaded Ukraine. They have been welcoming Ukrainian refugees, feeding them, housing them, providing them with medicine, all while supporting a young family out of pocket 💔. I speak to them most days and they update me on the situation. It is only a matter of time until they will have to leave their home due to the ongoing war. They have told me there is a red code terrorist attack today. They are scared, they don’t know what the future holds for them, I feel so sad for my friends. All politics aside, this family, my friends need help and this is the most direct way I can think of doing so. 💚
I will be doing this bake sale on Wednesday next week, with all profits going to them. I can post and deliver locally for a small extra fee. Minimum fee will be £12 but please pay as much as you wish to donate. I’ll also be taking donations starting immediately if you don’t want a cookie box.
