European Pharmaceutical Review hosts a webinar on 2 September 2026 on the monocyte activation test in reporter format, for rapid pyrogen detection. It stands as an alternative to the rabbit pyrogen test and to LAL, and the difference shows up in how quickly a batch can be released.

A heat-stable fragment of the outer cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. Even when the bacterium is dead, the fragment can still trigger a fever response — which is why sterility alone is not enough, and injectable medicines are tested to stay pyrogen-free.
