Nel 1592 gli antenati di Donatella Cinelli Colombini costruirono la Fattoria del Colle di Trequanda e pagavano le tasse per la coltivazione del Casato di Montalcino. I primi si schierarono
con i protestanti e persero tutto ciò che avevano. Il Colle è tornato in famiglia dopo 300 anni nel 1919, grazie al nonno dell’attuale proprietà. Gli antenati montalcinesi hanno invece passato il Casato di padre in figlio e soprattutto di madre in figlia visto che da tre generazioni questa proprietà viene trasmessa dal ramo femminile e anche Donatella l’ha destinata alla figlia Violante. In 1592 Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s ancestors were building Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda and were already paying taxes for the cutivation of Casato in Montalcino. The ancestors from Colle decided to side with the Protestants and lost all their properties. Fattoria del Colle returned to the family after 300 years in 1919 thanks to Donatella’s great grandfather. The Montalcino ancestors always passed the estate down the hereditary line, mostly from mother to daughter as for the past three generations this property has been sent down the female branch, Donatella too will give Casato to her daughter Violante. Il Casato Prime Donne ha un’estensione di 40ha di cui 18 a vigneto interamente a Sangiovese. Qui Donatella produce due tipologie di Brunello tra cui la selezione Prime Donne, primo rosso a grande invecchiamento selezionato da un panel di quattro assaggiatrici donne. Nella cantina di affinamento le botti sono intercalate da affreschi sulla storia di Montalcino, accanto alla cantina di produzione sta sorgendo la “Tinaia del vento” per vinificare il Brunello con i lieviti autoctoni. Prime Donne è anche un Premio giornalistico e culturale che ha la sua cornice nelle due cantine dell’azienda. Casato Prime Donne is a property of 40 hectares of which 18 are Sangiovese vineyards. Here Donatella produces two typologies of Brunello, The Brunello Prime Donne Selection is the first great Italian red wine chosen by a panel of four female wine experts. In the ageing cellar the barrels are distributed among frescoes of the history of Montalcino. Next to the Vinification area, the Tinaia del Vento is going to be built where the Brunello will be vinified in the open air and with the indigenous yeasts from Montalcino. The wine makers are all female, this is revolutionary for Italy. “Prime Donne” is also cultural and journalistic Award. In the vineyards around Casato Prime Donne there is a path with resting spots, each one with works of art and quotations from the winners of the Casato Prime Donne Award
FATTORIA DEL COLLE
La Fattoria del Colle di Trequanda è una proprietà di 336 ha che includono oltre 23 a vigneto, oliveti, cereali, riserve tartufigene e una struttura agrituristica con tre piscine e un ristorante. I 19 appartamenti sono stati ricavati nella cinquecentesca villa padronale e nelle case dei contadini. La Fattoria organizza corsi di cucina, weekend a tema, wine tours e visite guidate dedicate alla campagna. La Fattoria si trova al confine tra il Chianti e la Doc Orcia, si producono oltre a olio extra vergine di oliva e Vinsanto, Chianti Superiore Docg, Cenerentola Orcia Doc, Leone Rosso Orcia Doc, Il Drago e le Sette Colombe IGT Toscana. La cantina storica inizia nell’eremo medievale fino a raggiungere il sottotetto dove si trovano i caratelli del Vinsanto. Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda is in the Chianti and Orcia DOC Regions. In addition to 23 hectares of vineyards, there are cereals, white truffles, olive groves and a country inn with 19 apartments, a restaurant, and 3 pools. The hospitality offered to the tourists is of various kinds: from the simplicity of peasant farm houses with their original furnishings to the finery of the bedroom made for the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Pietro Leopoldo and his amorous trysts. The estate organises cookery courses and stays a week long with lessons and guided tours dedicated to the countryside. The winery is very suggestive: it begins with a medieval hermitage, it crosses the underground of the sixteenth century villa and then rises up until the loft where the Vinsanto is made.
