Back at the market Monday
Good news the market will now be every week
One small bit of bad news… the 2 for 250 deal has finally bitten the dust.
Apparently inflation has even caught up with The Pie Guy.
So the pies are now back to their normal price of 150 a pie
Still cheaper than therapy though.
And you can eat a pie instead of talking about your problems, which seems like a much better deal anyway.

Mondays Market we will have
CHILLI BEEF PIE
CHICKEN, LEEK & BACON PIE
The chilli beef is mild, by the way. Not Mexican spicy.
And because we like giving you completely useless information, chilli peppers are technically fruit.
So technically this is a fruit pie.
You’re welcome.
The Chicken, Leek & Bacon is a proper British classic, with a creamy sauce and all that good stuff.
We’ll be back with another useless fact soon.

Beef Bourguignon pies are back Monday.
Every chef in the UK gets taught the French classics at culinary school.
Mother sauces, Beef Bourguignon, Coq au Vin and all that jazz.
And now look what we’ve done.
Put Beef Bourguignon in a pie.
I can understand why the French and British don’t exactly get along.
I’m just doing my bit to keep the tradition alive.

West Meets South
West Scotland is famous for macaroni pies.
The Southern USA is famous for pulled pork.
So this week we’ve got a little West Scotland meets Southern USA situation going on.

This Monday at the market
🥧 Irish Beef Stew Pie
🥧Chicken Pot Pie

It's incredible that we know who invented the telephone, but the person who first wrapped stew in pastry has been completely erased from history.
At some point, somewhere in Britain, a genius looked at a perfectly good bowl of stew and thought, "This would be much better if I could also eat the bowl."
And, astonishingly, the entire nation got behind the idea.
Now, Britain hasn't exactly got a flawless historical record. There have been a few questionable decisions over the years. But if we're making a list of the country's greatest contributions, putting meat inside pastry has to be comfortably in the top five.

Historians can argue about kings, queens and empires all they like, but deep down we all know that Britain's finest moment was somebody accidentally inventing a portable stew.

I feel like the chicken deserves a retirement.
It’s been putting in the hours.
It’s had a good run.
It’s probably dreaming of a quiet beach somewhere.
Unfortunately, every week someone asks for Chicken Pot Pie.
So the chicken is back.
No beach.
No relaxing.
Straight back to work.
Sorry chicken

Because apparently I can’t just make a steak and mushroom pie and leave it alone.

I've learned something since moving to Mexico.
Canadians and Americans can disagree about absolutely everything.
Politics.
Hockey.
Whether "eh" is a complete sentence.
But say the words "Chicken Pot Pie".....and suddenly they're all moving in the same direction like seagulls chasing a dropped French fry.
It’s the closest thing I’ve seen to international peace
It's genuinely quite moving.

The chicken and the cow are heading into battle… but it’s less dramatic showdown and more like they’ve both turned up, seen the pastry, and quietly agreed to walk in single file.
No speeches. No heroics. Just two former animals making peace with their new life as “highly recommended dinner.”
You’ll take them home for later.
Later will not survive.
We’ll be there as usual. Same spot, same pies, same people confidently saying “just one” like they haven’t met themselves before.
