How I wish Nigerians could boycott all these apps for just one week. 🇳🇬🤔
Millions of Nigerians helped build fintech platforms like PalmPay and OPay into household names. We use their apps every day, trust them with our money, and contribute to their growth.
Yet when it is time for these companies to seek major capital-market opportunities, the listings are reportedly happening outside Nigeria.
OPay listed in the United States, while reports now indicate that PalmPay is looking toward China.
So the question is simple: If Nigerian users helped build these companies into what they are today, why shouldn't Nigerians have a meaningful opportunity to invest in their success through the Nigerian capital market?
Maybe it's time we start asking harder questions about who truly benefits when Nigerian consumers build global businesses.
Nigerians provide the market. Nigerians provide the customers. Nigerians help create the value. But when the rewards come, where are Nigerians? 🇳🇬
This conversation deserves serious attention.
