First taste of our latest brew tonight, a clone of the iconic Timothy Taylor Landlord.
Sometimes the classics are classics for a reason. Beautiful balance, bready malt, gentle floral hops and a smooth finish that makes it very easy to go back for another sip... purely for quality control purposes of course.
Safe to say this one won't last long on tap.
Cheers from the bridge! 🍺

Karaka Bridge Brewery 🍻
The latest beer off the bridge is our take on the legendary Dale's Pale Ale.
This one is packed with classic American hop character, think grapefruit, citrus and a touch of pine, balanced by a solid malt backbone that keeps everything in check. Big flavour, plenty of aroma and just the right amount of bitterness to keep you coming back for another sip.
We've brewed a few pale ales over the years, but this clone captures everything that made Dale's such a classic in the craft beer world.
Safe to say this keg won't last long.
ABV: 6.5%Style: American Pale Ale
Cheers from Karaka Bridge Brewery! 🍺

🍺 Wilderpeople Lager 🍺
Fresh from Karaka Bridge Brewery, Wilderpeople Lager is our tribute to the great Kiwi adventure. Brewed with New Zealand Motueka hops, added in both the boil and steep, this easy-drinking lager delivers bright lime, citrus and subtle tropical notes over a clean, crisp malt finish.
Like a journey through the back blocks, it's uncomplicated, refreshing and full of local character. Whether you're chasing wild game, dodging social workers, or just relaxing in the sun, this is the beer to take along for the ride.
Style: NZ LagerHop: MotuekaABV: 4.8%Brewed by: Karaka Bridge Brewery

This is the beer that really got me into craft beer and remains one of my favourites. Inspired by Garage Project's iconic Garagista, this Karaka Bridge Brewery clone combines rich caramel and toasted malt flavours with bright citrus hop character and a firm, balanced bitterness. A modern amber ale that's full of flavour while remaining dangerously drinkable. "Big malt, bold hops, and plenty of character”

Brewed another Black beer on the nitro set up for the beginning of hopefully a great All Black season . This one is a clone of one of my favourite Irish Stouts Beamish . A tribute to a famous Cork stout, this Karaka Bridge Brewery clone delivers rich roasted coffee and dark chocolate flavours with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel and a clean, dry finish. Dark, sessionable and incredibly drinkable.
"A taste of Ireland, brewed at Karaka Bridge."

Capital XPA Clone 🍺
Back on tap at Karaka Bridge Brewery is another crowd pleaser. Our take on the ever-reliable Capital XPA.
This style is all about balance and drinkability. Plenty of hop character without the heavy edge you get from bigger IPAs. It is the sort of beer you can sit on and enjoy pint after pint. Perfect for a barbecue, a few beers after work, or watching the footy with mates.

Good Measure West Coast Pilsner Clone 🍺

Another fresh keg on tap at Karaka Bridge Brewery, and this one has turned out to be an absolute cracker.
Our latest brew is an extract clone of Good Measure's West Coast Pilsner, a style that sits right between a crisp pilsner and a modern IPA. It delivers all the clean, refreshing drinkability of a lager but with the bright hop character you'd expect from a West Coast beer.
The hop profile brings notes of lime, grapefruit and passionfruit, balanced by a subtle malt backbone that keeps everything crisp and dry. The finish is clean, refreshing and just bitter enough to have you reaching for another sip.
The clone has come together exceptionally well. While it may not be identical to the original, it captures everything we enjoy about the style. Bright hop aroma, excellent balance, great drinkability and that unmistakable West Coast character. It's the sort of beer that's equally suited to a summer barbecue, a game of footy, or simply relaxing at the end of a long day.

A very tasty clone and one we'll definitely be brewing again at Karaka Bridge Brewery. 🍻

Decided to do another nitro brown ale to keep us warm on theses chilly winter nights . This time it was a clone of the garage project Kiwi Brown Ale . Turned out great really tasty and a good drop on a winning night for the Chiefs !
Official description:
Brewed for those who enjoy a modern take on a classic, our Brown Kiwi Ale brings together rich malt character with a distinctly New Zealand hop profile.
At its core, this is an easy‑drinking brown ale. Expect smooth caramel and toasted malt flavours up front, with a gentle nutty backbone that gives it depth without being heavy. It’s balanced, clean, and built for repeatability.
Where it stands out is the hop combo. We’ve layered in Southern Cross, Motueka, Raukau, and Nectaron to lift the beer with a fresh, local twist. You’ll pick up subtle citrus and lime from Motueka, soft stonefruit from Nectaron, a touch of resin and structure from Southern Cross, and a rounded fruit character from Raukau.
The result is a beer that sits comfortably between traditional and modern. Malty enough to feel grounded, but bright enough to keep it interesting.
Style: Brown AleCharacter: Smooth, malty, lightly toastedHops: Southern Cross, Motueka, Raukau, NectaronFinish: Balanced with a gentle citrus and fruit lift
A proper Kiwi spin on a classic style, brewed right here for Karaka Bridge.

Bit of a late one… but worth sharing.
Back in February we had a crack at cloning Parrotdog Sun Dog Pilsner. The plan was to brew it, taste it properly, and put up a detailed review.
That didn’t happen.
Took it away on a fishing trip… and to be honest, it didn’t last long enough to analyse. We basically cleaned the keg in one sitting.
Probably the best sign we got pretty close.
Crisp, super drinkable, nice clean bitterness, exactly what you want after a day on the water. Easy to keep going back for “just one more”.
From memory, this one had:
Clean lager yeast profile
Light malt base
Nice noble-style hop finish
Proper summer pilsner feel
Would I change anything? Maybe tighten the bitterness slightly. But overall, pretty happy with it.
Might need to brew it again… purely for quality control purposes
