Dormancy & Cane Colour

In the quiet of the morning at Summerhill Heights, our Pinot Noir vines settle into a dormant state. The canes glow with that beautiful burnt-orange hue — a sign of well-ripened, lignified wood from a strong season past. This warm, reddish-cinnamon tone is classic for Pinot Noir in Canterbury’s cool climate, promising strong cold hardiness and fruitful buds ready for spring.
