Since its initial launch in 2010, Econic® packaging has evolved to include a growing range of variants that have slightly different renewable content, aesthetic features and barrier properties to the original high barrier film, which is now marketed as EconicClassic. Each Econic packaging variant has been purpose-designed to help eco-conscious companies reduce their impact on the environment while
still retaining the same level of functionality provided by traditional plastic films. The majority of every Econic® bag or wrapper is made from a lamination of several compostable films, which are derived from sustainably-managed renewable resources. The films used to make the Econic® packaging variants have each been certified to the European and American commercial compostability standards EN 13432 and ASTM6400, and either the European or Australian home composting standards: OK Compost Home or AS5810. The only exception are the paper-outers on the Econic®Kraft and Econic®Snow bags, which are certified as sustainably produced.
