Fonterra has launched a Genetic Gain Pilot for 2026/27 - and CRV customers supplying Fonterra can apply for up to $3,000 + GST in customer funding this season.

Just 200 funding spots are available nationwide, on a first in, first served basis, with applications opening 8 July at 12pm via Fonterra Farm Source.

That’s a wrap on Fieldays 2026!

A huge thanks to everyone who stopped by the CRV stand at Mystery Creek last week. Across all four days, our team had hundreds of great conversations with farmers about breeding goals, herd improvement, myHERD, grass-fed genetics, DNA testing and the wider support CRV offers on farm.

myHERD was a real talking point this year, with plenty of farmers keen to see live demos on our interactive touch screen and get a feel for how it can support simpler, smarter herd management.

Big congratulations to the team at GenomNZ
Our myDNA Programme Manager Connie McFarlane caught up with Ruth Laurie-Fendall from GenomNZ at Fieldays following some well-deserved award wins, including the Supreme Award at the Science New Zealand Awards.

GenomNZ is a standalone business unit of the Bioeconomy Science Institute Manaaki Taiao. It plays an important role in CRV’s myDNA programme, testing DNA samples from farmers’ herds and turning them into valuable genomic information.

That information helps farmers make more informed breeding decisions, from identifying their top cows for sexed semen through to selecting lower-performing animals for beef semen.

CRV has worked with GenomNZ for more than 14 years, and it’s a partnership that continues to deliver real value for farmers.

Well done to GenomNZ and the wider animal genomics team.

Herd testing isn’t always the favourite job on-farm, but it’s an important one. It gives farmers the information they need to make good breeding decisions for their herd.

Taranaki dairy farmer Michelle Radford says herd testing is non-negotiable in their farm business, and CRV makes it easy.

A familiar face stopped by the CRV stand at Fieldays! 🙌

Waikato farmer Chris Lewis has been a CRV customer for almost 15 years, and this season he’s hoping to see a few more heifers on the ground after using sexed semen across selected cows.

Chris's breeding strategy focuses on improving selection, breeding better calves, and making things simple for his team on farm.
