A Message to Our Auckland Customers
It is with mixed emotions that we share the news that Blackforest Gourmet Albany will be closing its doors on the 19th of June. Due to an unexpected sale of the building by the current landlord.
For more than 20 years, the Albany store has been a trusted destination for Aucklanders seeking authentic German smallgoods, specialty meats, and European favourites. We know this news will be disappointing for many loyal customers who have made the store part of their regular shopping routine.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Damien and Francesca for their dedication, hard work, and passion over the past seven years as owners of the Albany store. Their commitment to serving customers and preserving the traditions and quality that Blackforest Gourmet is known for has been truly appreciated.
While the Albany store may be closing, Blackforest Gourmet continues as usual.
All Blackforest Gourmet products continue to be handcrafted at our production facility in Mount Maunganui, and we remain committed to bringing our authentic German smallgoods and specialty products to customers in our shop in Gate Pa Shopping Center in Tauranga and throughout New Zealand.

FLEISCHSALAT

Fleischsalat is one of those comfort foods that’s simple on paper but incredibly satisfying when it’s made well. What makes it delicious is the balance of creamy, tangy, and savoury flavours all working together in every bite.

The rich mayonnaise dressing gives it that smooth, indulgent texture, while the pickles and pickle juice cut through the creaminess with a sharp little zing. Good Fleischsalat also depends heavily on the meat — usually finely sliced sausage like fleischkäse— which adds a nice mild flavour and a soft, satisfying bite.

It is with the heaviest of hearts we share the news of our mum/wife, Anne's sudden death on Friday.

As we attempt to comprehend how to begin this next phase without her, the restaurant, cookschools and studio will be closed.

We hugely appreciate the outpouring of love, kindness and support we have received. She was a woman who was loved by many, respected by most and feared by some.
