They don’t make them like they used to.

This 1981 Brouwer sod harvester has harvested more than 4 MILLION rolls of sod on our family farm—and 45 years later, it’s still working.

It’s seen three generations, countless hours in the field, worn parts, repairs, faded paint and more than a little rust.

But around here, old doesn’t mean useless.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

We could buy something newer.

But after 4+ million rolls, this old girl has earned the right to keep going as long as she wants. 😂

They don’t make them like this anymore.

Three generations of our family have put this machine to work—and it’s still earning its keep on the farm. 🚜

There’s something about old equipment that just keeps going… no screens, no fancy electronics, just iron, diesel and a whole lot of history.

Before a roll of Kentucky Bluegrass ever leaves our farm, the field has to be prepared, planted, cared for—and then grown for nearly TWO YEARS before harvest.

Third-generation Minnesota sod farmers, still starting every lawn with something this small.
