So, speaking of Guineas. We have debated about sharing this story but here goes anyways. This Guinea has special needs. Early on we decided to leave him penned up while open because kids love to chase the guineas. It’s against the rules btw. This guinea is slower than most because he hops and we didn’t want him stressed out. As he has gotten stronger he hops and flies all over the property and gets around pretty darn well so we are going to try letting him stay out free ranging with everyone else. So, please, don’t chase the birds so he can keep living his best life. He is quite the survivor.

Finally! After three years, we have some home grown keets! In case you don’t know, (ag lesson of the day 😉) guineas have a tendency to nest in terrible places and often are not very maternal. We think these two make a great duo and are off to a great start! Guineas eat about 1000 ticks a day - per Guinea and they chase off unwanted visitors such as snakes. The other morning, they chased off a coyote at 6:30 am while Shelley was working outside! 😬 Needless to say, we are big fans. They are noisy but they serve a great purpose out here.

We’ve had 50 two years this month. Check out the growth! He really needs to find a new pasture but it’s hard to give up a bull as good as 50. Watch him go through the 4’ gate. He knows exactly where his horns are.
