linktr.ee/fortgeorgebrewery The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Under temporary British authority during the Wa

r of 1812, it was renamed "Fort George" after King George III. In 1924, the current Fort George Building was erected to house an automotive repair shop. Abandoned and neglected in the early 90s, the Fort George Building was revitalized in 2007 as a home to Blue Scorcher Bakery and the original brewpub. Fort George purchased the neighboring Lovell Building in 2010, which now houses the Lovell Taproom and a larger brew system. An upstairs pizzeria was added to the Fort George Building in 2013. Fort George has been thankful to grow with the community around the Lower Columbia River.

Anyone can make a beer, but it takes a truly talented team of brewers to extract maximum possible flavor from the hop flower. The acids and oils at the base of the hop flower are called Lupulin, a powdery yellow substance, unique in each hop variety, that imparts its bitter, fruity, earthy flavor to the final beer. When a beer manages to express the highest level of Lupulin flavor, the beer drinker enters a state of complete delight and satisfaction. That's Lupulin Ecstasy.

We scoured the land for this special magic. Over 40 of the best hop-forward beers in the world will be pouring at Lupulin Ecstasy Festival on June 13th. Here are just a few of the many beers to look forward to:

Pinthouse Brewing Mosaic Takedown - Pinthouse’s 2025 World Beer Cup Gold Medal Winning West Coast IPA with 15 pounds of hops per barrel.

3-Way IPA partner Shred Beer Company Intensified - a Double Dry Hopped IPA with Superdelic hops.

Teletronix from Uprise Brewing Co. - a mind-mendingly citrus-forward WC IPA.

Astral Canopy, a very rare and special Hazy Triple from Tall Trees Brew Lab

Though we’re located in Astoria, Oregon, our employees hail from all over this nation, bringing their taste for diverse regional favorites and unique seasonal beers with them. A small but vocal contingent of well-traveled individuals from multiple departments worked together to brew this tribute to a Southeastern favorite.

Ponchatoula Strawberry Lager is a fine, silky smooth lager, brewed with 20 gallons of fresh strawberry juice, glimmering and golden in color, subtly sweet and perfectly refreshing.

Tastes like a summer night on the front porch of Strawberry City, Louisiana.

Releasing at the Pubs this Saturday. Beer ships direct to your door in OR at the link in bio.

Wild, hand-picked spruce tips. No hops, just the piney, fresh, forest-y sweetness of springtime in the PNW. Every year, right around the beginning of May, Fort George goes out to the forest to pick spruce.

People have been making stuff out of spruce tips on this continent for hundreds of years. In the 16th Century, First Nations people taught sailors from Europe how to brew a tea from cedar that contained enough Vitamin C to prevent them from dying of scurvy. Easy to make, likely to keep sailors alive, and also alcohol. Win, win, win. We don’t make Spruce Budd every year because we’re otherwise in danger of dying of scurvy. We just make it because it’s tasty.

Spruce Budd is comprised of pilsner malt, water, and hundreds of pounds of hand-harvested spruce tips from Lewis & Clark timberlands.

Releasing at the Pubs this Saturday. Beer ships direct to your door in OR at the link in bio.

New Zealand is the home of rare and unique things: hops, a politically powerful indigenous culture, and cool birds. Known for endangering itself by eating trash, attacking car tires, and murdering sheep, the Kea is the only Alpine Parrot species in the world. If you need some havoc, the Kea is your bird.

If you need a daring, complex, aromatic pilsner, Alpine Parrot New Zealand-style Pilsner is your beer. From Fort George and our friends at Original Pattern Brewing Co. in Oakland, CA.

Releasing at the Pubs tomorrow. Beer ships direct to your door at the link in bio.

In an era where subscription models and streaming services are basically a runaway train of diminishing returns, KMUN is a beacon of hope. What is Community Radio? It’s all in the name. Radio, made for the community, by the community. Free of corporate influence. Whether you’re the richest person in Clatsop County out cruising in one of your many pleasure crafts or the poorest person in Clatsop County whose only possessions are a cool dog and a dollar store radio… you could tune into KMUN without paying a dime. And you might just hear The Song That Changes Your Life, or the tsunami warning that saves your life (although if you’re out in the pleasure craft you might just have to settle for the song).

KMUN is a precious resource that must be protected at all costs.” - Skyler, Fort George Graphic Designer and Volunteer Radio Programmer at KMUN.

Read more about KMUN and a few of the volunteers who keep the lights on (and also happen to work at Fort George) on the Blog. Check it out at the link in bio.

On Saturday, June 13th, prepare to enter a land of Lupulin Ecstasy where the sun shines on giant inflatable animals, the beer flows from glistening taps, and baby goats gambol over the rolling meadows and historic gardens of the Flavel House Museum to the sounds of live music and the smells of delicious food.

There’s nothing like a huge chasm carved by geologically recent glacial activity to gather and concentrate Mother Nature’s fury and abundance.

Celebrate the Astoria Column’s 100th anniversary—and the artistry and ingenuity behind its amazing murals—with a behind-the-scenes look at their preservation. The Clatsop County Historical Society invites the community to “Restoring Pusterla,” presented by restoration lead John Goodenberger, this Thursday, May 21st. Doors to the Lovell Showroom open at 6pm, lecture starts at 7pm.

The column celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The 500-foot mural, which spirals up the exterior of the Astoria Column, was painted by Attilio Pusterla in 1926 and restored in 2015 by a team led by Goodenberger.

Join us for the second-to-last community lecture of the season - after Nature Matters on May 28th, Thursday Night Lectures will be on summer break until October 1st!
