r of 1812, it was renamed "Fort George" after King George III. In 1924, the current Fort George Building was erected to house an automotive repair shop. Abandoned and neglected in the early 90s, the Fort George Building was revitalized in 2007 as a home to Blue Scorcher Bakery and the original brewpub. Fort George purchased the neighboring Lovell Building in 2010, which now houses the Lovell Taproom and a larger brew system. An upstairs pizzeria was added to the Fort George Building in 2013. Fort George has been thankful to grow with the community around the Lower Columbia River.

CoHoperative Ale HOP DROP! 🟢 Wednesday, Sep 2nd, 9am - 2pm

Not like the brazen, ancient hops of the continent,
Nor the refined product of generations of careful selection;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty brewer with a big blue bucket, whose Wednesday shall be spent
Ushering in hosts of wayward, lost and miscellaneous hops, and her name:
Mother of CoHoperative Ale.
From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged courtyard that twin old buildings frame.
“Give us your backyard hops, your poor hops,
Your huge trash bags of bines yearning to be made into delicious beer,
The wretched hops teeming up the back of your garden fence.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tos’t hops to us,
We lift our blue buckets beside the solarium door!”

Drop off your homegrown hops in the Fort George Courtyard from 9am - 2pm on Wednesday, Sep 2nd, to contribute to our local, fresh hop collaborative brew AND receive a gift card for a crowler of CoHoperative Ale when the beer releases. 🍻

A crisp, cool, perfectly balanced lager.

A "Sharp Pour" is a slow, intentional two-step beer pour specifically designed to keep your beer as cold and fresh as possible - super chilled, quickly dispensed liquid beer on the bottom and an inch of perfectly creamy beer foam on the top.

Though a Sharp Pour isn’t necessary to enjoy this Sharp One, when executed perfectly, a Sharp Pour of Sharp One is comprised of 70% very cold beer and 30% very cold velvety, foam on top.

Developed and brewed in collaboration with America’s first craft sake brewery, SakéOne in Forest Grove, Sharp One releases on tap at the Pubs tomorrow, avalable at a very limited number of OR & WA beer stops soon.

A bright lager with a spicy, zesty kick and a little bit of savor from our West Coast and the other west coast.

If a day goes by in your culinary life without a fermented condiment - you’re doing food wrong. Sauerkraut, soy sauce, kimchi, gochujang, worcestershire sauce, vinegar, yuzu koshō - all the best food comes from stuff that we let sit out. Time is the ultimate accomplice in the cultivation of flavor. Just ask a brewer.

Yuzu koshō is a mildly spicy and acidic Japanese condiment made from fermented chili peppers, yuzu and salt. And that’s what we put in this beer, too, brewed at Fort George with the team from West Coast Brewing in Japan.

Lagers sit for weeks, sometimes months, as the lager yeast works low and slow to transform the sweet, murky wort into an exceptional, clear lager. When West Coast Brewing was here for Fuji to Hood beer festival last month, we brewed Zest to Zen together. Then we let it sit out. For flavor.

Try Zest to Zen at the Pubs now, or a very limited number of OR & WA beer stops soon.

If you know Fort George, you know we like fun. We have a drift bike and a papier-mâché monkey in the warehouse office. We have two spiral staircases, a skeleton as a mannequin in the Merch Store and two big glass garage doors that lead to nowhere. We make a fair number of decisions here by asking: “is that fun?” And if the answer is “yes,” we do that thing.

Like this beer - a medium-bodied, balanced and drinkable ESB for the late summer months, That’s Fun, Innit? ESB is available on tap at the Pubs now.

Fort George is racing from Mt. Hood to the Oregon Coast. That is - 12 fast and fearless employees and friends of the Fort are racing from Mt. Hood to the Oregon Coast in the annual Hood To Coast relay race.

Each member of the team will run three legs of the 196 mile course from Mt. Hood to Seaside and they’ll all finish at the Fort with a beer. And like… a lot of water.

Coastbound and Down is a fruity, tangy citrus Pale Ale with Blood Orange and Tangerine. For long distance, team based enjoyment.

Releasing on draft at the Pubs this Wednesday, available throughout the PNW soon. Beer ships direct to your door in OR at the link in bio.

Like the denizens of any great cultural hub, Astorians are known for their excellent sense of style, their well-fitting, ethically sourced, and locally made garments. One reason these hard-working locals are able to routinely inspire envy in all who behold them is their close proximity to Fort George.

You can find rad and reasonably priced merch in the Lovell Store at Fort George or via the online store. Merch ships anywhere in the US at the link in bio.

A super light lager with a little hint of bright citrus.

Of marriages, they say, “communication is key.” For breweries they say, “experimentation is key.” But like… communication is important for breweries, too. And also… for that matter… marriages can benefit from a little experimentation. Two keys to success, one outstanding lager.

Lager & Development #2 is a Light Lager, the newest in a series of ongoing beer experiments from the Research & Development Team at Fort George. Experimentation. Communication. It’s all in there somewhere.

Honey and biscuit graininess, clean noble hops, refreshing classic lager-fermentation character. On draft only at the Pub.

This year we put nearly 300 pounds per turn of heirloom-variety, hand-harvested Topaz Farm pumpkins into our Topaz Spiced Pumpkin Ale.

Topaz Farm grows over a dozen varieties of pumpkin and other winter squash on their farm outside of Portland - from Cucurbita Pepo “Black Knight” to big Cinderella pumpkins (Cucurbita Maxima) to supremely sweet and roasty Jarrahdale.

You can taste all those hand-picked, hand-processed Jarrahdale Pumpkins, grown less than two hours from our brewery, in a shimmery, light amber glass of Topaz Pumpkin Ale. Available at the Pubs now, making its way to your favorite PNW beer stops, including Topaz Farm, soon.

Beer ships direct to your door in OR at the link in bio.

It’s a new, year-round Tropical West Coast IPA as bright and aromatic as an island in the sun.

Astoria might not technically be an island, but it sure can feel like an island sometimes. Not the lonely, isolated John Donne sort of island (that no man is), but a cheerful, welcoming, community-rich island. We’re surrounded by water on three sides, diverse and ecologically unique, with our own culture and customs. Island Towns aren’t always out of the way - this one is easy to visit. Wherever you are - you’re just one pint away.

Island Towns is brewed with a mix of cutting-edge, fruit-forward hops like Superdelic and the bold, citrusy West Coast flavor of Citra and Chinook. Modern brewing science meets warm sandy beaches, ripe tropical fruit on the breeze, and a refreshing citrusy breeze off the Pacific. Releasing at the Pubs tomorrow, available year-round throughout the PNW very, very soon.
