Tonight, watching the fireworks over Texas, I cried more than once.
After coming home from beautiful Spain, I was reminded all over again that, for me, nothing compares to being back in the USA—and especially back home in Texas.
We are so proud to be Americans.
Sometimes leaving home helps you see it with fresh eyes. We are blessed with the resources of this country, the bounty of American agriculture, the farmers and ranchers who feed us, the artisans who make the things we use and love, and an incredible abundance of food and choice.
At Acht Kinder Farms and Acht Kinder Farm Pantry, we get to see a small piece of that every week. We grow work alongside farmers, ranchers, growers, bakers, makers and small businesses who put so much of themselves into what they grow and create. Being part of that world has made us appreciate even more just how special American agriculture and American-made goods truly are.
Our fields. Our farms. Our ranches. Our meats. The incredible variety of fruits and vegetables grown across this country. Our farmers markets. Our small businesses. And yes, even walking back into H-E-B after being away made me appreciate home all over again.
I kept thinking tonight about how people from so many parts of the world would be amazed to walk through one of our grocery stores and see what is available to us every day. We have so much that is easy to take for granted.
Tonight, I felt deeply grateful. Grateful for this country. Grateful for the people who grow, raise, make, build and create here. Grateful for my fellow Texans. And grateful to be home.
We loved spending this Fourth of July with you, Texas. We are so blessed to call this amazing country home.
Happy Fourth of July, and God bless the USA. 🇺🇸
We can’t wait to see you next Saturday at Lakeline Farmers Market at Lakeline Mall!
