We are now able to see the milk star awards for our does. I may have missed a few, but this represents our first several years of being on milk test. The milk stars are nice, but what has been really rewarding over the years is watching our percentile rankings slowly rise on our Butterscotch, and her daughter Daisy. This is a milky line, and I wouldn't be suprised to see some of them going elite eventually. Daisy's Willow is an excellent milker as well.
We truly started from scratch around here as far as any milk test or linear data. Butterscotch went from having no ranking at all to making into the 74th percentile as of the last production evaluation. We'll see what happens to that number when the next evaluations come out.
Last year we dried off early and did not do a VT so several does did miss out on their offical star awards. That's ok though, we just started up again this year and will keep plugging away.
We see a lot of value in milk test even without star awards. The stars are a very low threshold, but to me they represent a measure of committment to proving out our milkers that takes a great deal of dedication.
Every fall we always cut our lowest producers and our lowest scoring does and it is beginning to pay off. To the point where even those are nice does that I would have been happy to start with.
All that being said, here is the list. I can't tell you how happy this makes me as far as our little farm is concerned. Getting an official award like this is pretty fun for us.

After all these years Sleepytime Goats Butterscotch, our original herd matriarch has officially earned her milk star!
We had her birthdate wrong in her DHI records all these years, so her star didn't show up right away after the recent ADGA update.

Edited to add screenshot of her 4th lactation. Butterscotch was no slouch in the milk pail. This was her lactation in 2022-2023 the last several tests were once a day milking.
Also, we are finally seeing the awards and records for the rest of our does too!

We have a two year old milker who will be seeking new pastures. Candy scored GVVV85 in our recent appraisal as a 2 year old.

Our 2027 Kidding Schedule is published on our website.
We featured Farm Wildwood Gallant Lynx and his offspring as much as possible. If you are interested in a son or daughter, reservations are free to make. We have many of his daughters on our kidding schedule as well, and will also be using his son "Plum Bush LX W***y Wonka" whose dam is Better Wayz Magarita Morning VEEE89
Lynx has consistently given us high milk production, and correct conformation. 5 of his 9 daughters who were appraised this year scored "very good" in rump, with none of the daughters being more than 2 years old.
His oldest daughters are 2 year olds, the best scoring being "Plum Bush LX Daisy's Willow" who earned the score of VVEE 88 this year.
His yearling daughters snagged very respectable scores ranging from final scores of 82 to 86. Individual scores and details are all on our website. Milk production info is also on our website. I am currently working at updating each doe's lactation to date on their pages.

Our family took a road trip to Landsdale Pennsylvania over the past week. Our nephew was getting married and although we were really hoping to take the whole family, I did not know how it would even be possible since our regular chore people also needed to be gone over that time!
Thankfully, our friends have two helpful, responsible teenage sons who were happy to be taught how to do the milking and farm chores.
They did such a fabulous job! No loss of milk production, no sketchy looking issues that were noticed anywhere when we returned. The goats were healthy, calm, and looking good even though we were gone over the hottest days of the year so far. I'm so grateful.

We are so glad to be back home. Thankful that God protected our many many hours on the road, and provided a way for us to attend our nephew's wedding.

I was not feeling well on linear appraisal day. But it always works best if I handle the girls, and it's what I want to do. Gabe did a genius job of getting pictures of each doe, and asking great questions if I may brag him up a little.
The appraiser obligingly let us record him with our fancy mic we got when we were doing YouTube videos sometimes. So I was able to just relax and know that I would be able to review it all later.
We have chore boys all lined up and will be leaving on a long road trip to a wedding in PA. If I get bored I'll be perusing our recordings, looking at LA scores, and planning breeding pairs. Yay!
This our girl Farm Wildwood Essie who is one of my besties, as you can tell. ❤️🥰

Have too many goats? Try a curry seasoned goat roast. Yum 😋 I'm looking forward to supper time.
One roast is too small for our family, and this was quite a little roast I found that got lost in the bottom of the freezer. So I added a pork roast too.
