E a t l o c a l 🌱🍅

Are you curious about our farmers “why” when it comes to farming in Bend, Oregon? To sum it up, his why closely aligns with the words spoken from the podcast “Eating Seasonally & Local : Why it matters more than ever” by the Market Gardener.

Here are a few notes as to “why” it’s important to farm & eat local ❤️

🌱Local food systems are fragile but essential.
Industrial/global food systems are efficient but vulnerable (climate change, supply chain shocks, etc.).

🌱Local farming creates resilience when communities can feed themselves.
Not buying local = being optimized for convenience, not stability.

🌱Seasonality in eating reconnects you to reality. Eating seasonally forces you to align with natural cycles instead of expecting everything year-round. This shift builds awareness of:
climate
soil
regional limitations
It’s not just about taste, it’s about a changed mindset.

🌱Small-scale farming still matters. Small farms can be viable and incredibly impactful. Farming strengthens the local economy, reduces dependency on industrial agriculture and creates closer farmer-consumer relationships.

At the end of the day the ✨ w h y ✨ is community. The w h y is being self sufficient. It is the importance of the mind body connection and the benefits of eating organically and locally grown food.

Ranchers & Farmers ~ a local collaboration
🥩 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 🥬

North 44’s locally raised, grass fed and finished beef will now be an add on option for our CSA members this season!

About these amazing local ranchers:
“We are a first generation farm in Bend, Oregon specializing in farm-direct deliveries of our premium grass fed and finished lamb, beef, and seasonal poultry.

We believe in being stewards of our land and focus on raising healthy, stress-free animals using regenerative farming practices.

We pride ourselves on a hard day’s work that translates into some of the best meat you’ll eat. Taste the difference in locally raised, grass fed and finished lamb and beef.

We believe that good things take time. That animals should always have space to roam and eat a natural, all-grass diet. Our herd is raised with love, respect, and year-round attention, and we know that comes through in our final product. “

Life on the farm update ~ from your favorite farmer 🌱☀️

Got the snap peas in the ground and the trellising all set up. Have to drop those huge frost blankets over them on cold nights. They are so thick that they are 8 degrees. Each one costs over a hundred dollars but they hold up pretty well.

🙌🏼 So grateful to finally have all of the frost protection gear we need to farm here in Central Oregon thanks to our grants we got last year from OCFSN and USDA NRCS.

The “low tunnels” between the caterpillar tunnels in pic one were secured with a NRCS grant last year and right now they are protecting our early season red and purple “new” potatoes which just popped this week!

Our attitude is gratitude, that is for sure ❤️🌱

Organically grown + delivered with love. If you’re lucky, there may be some Fibonacci Farm spinach at Locavore (if they haven’t already sold out) 🌱☀️ Our spinach is seriously SO GOOD ~ the perfect addition to any smoothie due to its incredible sweetness. Next time you see it at the market, grab some for yourself {think of this as your friendly psa 🤩)

Sweet or spicy? 🍯🌶️ Why choose when you can have both?

We’re just buzzing 🐝 to highlight our collaboration with by bringing their incredible local honey straight to your Fibonacci Farm CSA box. From golden, floral sweetness to bold jalapeño-infused heat, this is the kind of local goodness that takes your meals to the next level.

Our farm-fresh organic veggies + their handcrafted honey = a match made right here in our community 💛 Find honey as a local add on option this season!

🌱 What is a CSA you might ask? 🌱

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you join our CSA, you’re signing up for a share of the farm ~ receiving fresh, seasonal, organically grown produce each week while directly supporting local farmers (that’s us!). It’s the best way to eat with the seasons, reduce your footprint, and stay connected to where your food comes from.

Add a jar, or two… (we won’t judge) to your next order and taste the difference local makes.

✨Sign up for our CSA and pick up weekly or bi weekly, on Wednesdays, this summer ~ at Fibonacci Farm! Located on Eagle Rd.
