Iâm Kirstine, founder of Boulder Broth. I grew up between Maryland and New York, then went on to serve in the military, including three deployments to the Middle East during a very real and defining time. I eventually made my way out to Boulder for grad school, thinking life was heading in one direction. It didnât. Like it does, life had its own plans.
I started making broth after surviving a life-threatening birth. That experience reshaped everything for me â how I healed, how I nourished myself, and how I showed up as a mother. What began as something deeply personal stayed that way for years⌠until it didnât. Eleven years later, that quiet practice became Boulder Broth.
I built this company while raising my son, Canaan â truly on my own. Not part-time, not shared. Full-time, full responsibility, full heart. He is my everything, and he graduates high school next month! Heâs also been my biggest cheerleader, and the one who encouraged me to take the first real step in turning this into something more. In many ways, this company grew up right alongside him.
I started making broth the way I believed it should be made â slow, intentional, deeply nourishing. I brought it out to local farmers, one by one, asking them to trust me before there was anything to show for it. They tasted it. They believed in it. And together, from scraps and conversations and long days, Boulder Broth was built.
Today, Boulder Broth has a cult following, a growing national reach, and a community that continues to show up for what we do. Weâre shipping nationwide, building a strong subscription base, expanding thoughtfully and dreaming up whatâs next â including a future tasting room here in North Boulder.
But at the core, itâs still the same: real broth, made the right way, sourced from the cleanest ingredients we can find â regenerative farms and pastured animals, no shortcuts.
And weâre just getting started.
