When getting a cow processed, You do not get the total hanging weight back. You get a percentage of that weight back. It all depends on how you get it cut! The more you get deboned the less weight you get back.

We raise Angus Cross Commercial USDA Choice+ and F1 Wagyu Texas Kobe USDA Prime cattle in the Brenham area.
I decided a few years ago not to sell my calves but to feed them out in the feedlot to “finish”.
Every couple months I bring finished cattle back to the processor and sell directly to the public. You decide HOW you want your whole or 1/2 beef processed.
My kids compete in Houston, San Antonio and Amarillo’s National carcass contests. Our cattle have consistently place at or near the top.... winning Amarillo’s Ntl Carcass contest last time we entered.
We are taking the middle-man retailer out of the picture passing the savings on to you... the consumer

To get an idea, your average cost is about $5-6.50/lb for all cuts Angus Cross and $7-8.50/lb for Tx Kobe.... that’s the typical price of hamburger, not including the “prime” cuts

Here’s the details....

1/2 side of beef (prices subject to market changes)...

CAB Angus Cross is around $1500 plus about $300-350 processing (depending on size of calf) typically $5-$6/lb for all cuts is your cost basis.

F1 Wagyu is around $2000 plus $400-450 depending on size of calf, these are bigger calves and take longer to feed to finish out, typically $7-$8.50/lb for all cuts cost basis.

There really is a huge difference in Angus cross and Wagyu (if not familiar plz google)
