Some days on the farm feel a little more… dramatic than others.

This was one of them.

We’re putting in a new water line down to the bottom pasture—which is a big, necessary, not-very-glamorous job.

But apparently, in my son’s mind, it’s less “installing infrastructure” and more…

…preparing for battle.

Shovel = sword
Field = battlefield
Dad on the excavator = heavy artillery

And honestly, I think he might be having more fun with it than we are.

This is the part of farming people don’t always see—the work behind the scenes that makes everything else possible.

Water lines, fence, repairs… all so the animals can be where they’re supposed to be, doing what they’re supposed to do.

It’s not flashy, but it matters.

And sometimes, if you’re lucky, it comes with a little imagination and a lot of dirt.

What’s something “unseen” you worked on this weekend?

Feeding your family real food shouldn’t be complicated — it should be meaningful.

Spring always feels like this—

You blink, and suddenly everything is moving again.

Markets are open
Gardens are starting
People are cooking again

Quick heads up—

The farm store is CLOSED today (Saturday), except for:
– ODH herd share pickups
– Online, prepaid order pickups

Because we’re all heading to the Gilmanor Spring Animal Swap…

…to look at animals we absolutely do NOT need and will NOT be bringing home because we are responsible farm owners.

(Please hold me to that.)

We’ll be back to regular hours next week.

Either way - what are you making or buying? By Friday evening, my family is usually on their own!

Opening Day at the Bridgewater Farmers Market.

If you’ve been waiting for market season to start back up—this is your day.

We’ll be there with:
– Chicken (fully stocked)
– Eggs (while they last)

Come out, walk the market, and get back into the rhythm of eating local again.

Quick thought—

If you’ve ever bought fresh herbs and thought,
“I should really just grow these myself…”

You’re not wrong.

We’ve got an herb garden workshop coming up at the end of May, and it’s going to be a really simple, practical way to get started without overthinking it.

More details on our website—but if that’s something you’ve been wanting to do, make sure to grab a seat.

I just need to say thank you.

To everyone who brought egg cartons—
you officially saved me this week.

I went from “this might be a problem” to “we’re good for another round,” and I’m grateful.

And to everyone who came out for the plant sale this past weekend—it really does feel like the start of the season again.

Longer days, more people on the farm, and everything picking back up.

We’re back in it.

Be honest—

Do you actually use fresh herbs when you cook…
or do they sit in the fridge until you feel guilty enough to throw them away?

No judgment here. I LOVE the idea and feel like a rockstar when I do, but sometimes totally crash and burn....
