What a great inaugural plant sale for the Maine Native Plants Coop ! Thanks to all that came out to support this growing effort and a very special thank you to Coastal Rivers for hosting us! Couldn’t make it to the sale? Need more plants? You have two more chances coming up in September… the Native Gardens Of Blue Hill on September 12 and Wild Ones Midcoast Maine on September 20. Peaches are finally making the trip to the Bar Harbor Farmers Market tomorrow! You could be eating your own peach and pecan bread pudding this week. Plus more Shiro plums and the first of the pears. See you in the morning!

Brooklin Farmers Market market folks! We’ve got plums today! Have you heard about the new Veggie Vouchers program this year at the market? Every kiddo under age 18 gets 5 vouchers worth a dollar each to spend on veggies, fruit, meat and eggs, thanks to a generous donation that was made to the Brooklin Food Corps this year. Poland Family Farm, Fair Mount Farm , Carding Brook Farm and us have peak season products for you! Plus lots of prepared foods and crafts for you to peruse. 11-1pm every Thursday.

Pre-orders for the Brooklin Farmers Market market and the Bar Harbor Farmers Market are greatly encouraged… we can only fit so much in the truck! Farm stand with all the plants will be opening in a week or two once the plums start coming in.

Our website is now updated with all of our current native plant offerings and also those that are coming up in the next week. And still so many more waiting patiently (sometimes not-so-much!) for their turn to move into a bigger pot. We’ll be at the Bar Harbor Farmers Market tomorrow and then we will be taking a break from markets next week. Molly will be traveling to western NY state at the end of next week for her dad’s 80th bday celebration.

This is the time of year that all the activities that can happen in a native plant nursery are. We’ve just finished selling all the overwintered plants, we’re potting up SO many seedlings, we’re feeding and watering, there are potted up plants already being sold, we are collecting seed, we’re processing seed and we’re planting seeds that can’t dry out. Oh yeah… we also have an entire orchard to take care of, too! 😂
Please enjoy this story of red elder from bud to berry to seed processing. In one day, catbirds can devour an entire bush… our timing was just right this year! Our theory is that the birds love this early berry to gain strength to start another brood of baby catbirds or robins or cedar waxwings.
