A GOOD TIME TO BUY LOCAL BEEF
There’s a lot going on in the beef market right now, and we wanted to share a little perspective from the other side of the counter.
Beef prices have been high, and we understand why people are looking for the best deal they can find. But right now, there’s a pretty big reason to consider buying local beef.
The U.S. is bringing in more imported beef, much of it at a lower cost than what our local cattle producers can compete with. USDA is projecting 2026 beef imports to be higher than 2025, while the domestic cattle supply remains historically tight.
That may help put cheaper beef on the shelf, but it doesn't necessarily help the farmer who is getting up every morning to feed cattle, pay for hay, equipment, fuel and everything else it takes to raise that animal right here at home.
When you buy local, your money stays closer to home.
We aren't saying imported beef is bad. We're saying that if you're going to spend your hard-earned money on beef, now is a pretty damn good time to put some of it back into the local cattle market.
Know your farmer.
Know your processor.
Know your beef.
