What does one do on Sunday after cooking a Saturday contest in 100* heat? Clearly one cooks his wife a brisket! Man, I wish y’all could smell this!

Well sometimes you’re the windshield and sometimes upper the bug. I was more big than windshield today. Very middle of the road. Scores today were considerably lower overall than last week, and so were mine. I think I learned what NOT to do today. So, next week we’ll run it back undoing the 2 stupid things I did today!

Even still, I had a great time in the 100* heat in Stillwater, OK at the Rib Cook Off Association 2026 Payne County Smoke Show! Had a great time visiting off and on with Luke Short-Sr. He was the rep at my first RCOA and had 2 rob calls today!

Wilbur and I decided to take a last-minute trip to Stillwater Oklahoma for the Rib Cook Off Association 2026 Payne County Smoke Show! Competition starts tomorrow with chicken wings, baby back ribs and St. Louis ribs! Can’t wait to have a good time!

This was so awesome to watch! First off…only the top 3 kids were going get paid. Through generous donations, ALL 7 KIDS MADE MONEY!!!

Wilbur and I had a weekend!!! Thanks to Rib Cook Off Association and Smokin Brothers, Inc. for hosting the Main Street Smokin’ On The Rails this weekend! I had so much fun and was front and center of the action! I loved interacting with the patrons of this event! It was a festival atmosphere and ran exceptionally well! I gave out lots of leftovers and if the Knights of Columbus were the judges, I probably would have won the whole thing!! 🤣

This was a 4 cook competition with about 35 teams and a grand champion crowned at the end.

Highlights:
Friday night Chicken Wings 🐔- 2nd place!
Saturday Chicken Wing 🐔 - ??? Not too 10
Saturday Baby Back Ribs 🐷 - 5th place!
Saturday St. Louis Ribs 🐷 - 3rd place!!!
Overall 2nd place!!! Reserve Grand Champion!!!

Highlight of my weekend up to this point with one meat turn in left to go. A guy walking around with one of the contest shirts on was collecting autographs and asked me if I would sign his shirt!
