There are so many reasons to mourn the loss of Dolly Parton and we must continue to honor the wisdom and giving spirit that she embodied. This has to be one of my favorites, along with the Imagination Library and her deep devotion to her local roots in Tennessee.

Dolly Parton's deep connection to the Great Smoky Mountains inspired a lifelong appreciation for nature, community and giving back.

In a National Geographic interview, Dolly urged people to take better care of the natural world, saying, “We should pay more attention. We’re just mistreating Mother Nature—that’s like being ugly to your mama. We need to take better care of the things that God gave us freely. And that we’re so freely messing up.”

As we remember Dolly's extraordinary life, we're also reminded why protecting the places that inspire us matters, so wildlife can thrive, future generations can make memories of their own and everyone can experience the freedom of the outdoors.

They are doing amazing things at Tell City Regional Arts! You’re a dynamo, Colleen Reed

With the recent confirmation of the 2026 READI state grant award, Tell City Regional Arts is able to successfully move forward with the lot purchase on the corner of 12th and Tell Street. We have been operating on a Lease Agreement with Permission to Renovate the open air patio structure, and those improvements are already taking shape.

Looking back > Our community raised $105,000 in 2025 utilizing the CreatINg Livable Communities program- a partnership between AARP Indiana and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) via the Patronicity crowdfunding platform.
