The calves are figuring out the creep gate! LouLou’s twin came in and ate, she’s trying to show Big mommas boy how to come through also! He’s not so sure about it though. Big momma has done this before with last years bull calf. She must have told him it’s a trick!

Big day tomorrow! 💕

I have an appointment with Mattie’s trainer to go ride her after lunch and see how things are going. We’ll be figuring out if I’m ready for her to come home or if she would benefit from staying in training for another month.

I’m excited, a little nervous, and looking forward to seeing how much progress she’s made! Wish us luck! 🐴💙

Nothing makes me laugh quite like calling the cows and watching 40+ fluffy Highlands come running from all corners of the pasture. 🐮😂

Today it was time for fly treatments, and as soon as they heard the feed call, they came trotting in like they hadn’t eaten in weeks. We got everyone treated and they will be good for another 3 weeks.

Moments like this remind me why I love farm life. There’s just something special about a whole herd trusting you enough to come running when you call. ❤️

Just got done treating all of our cows for flies! 🐮🪰

What products or treatments do you use on your critters to keep the flies under control?

This year we started using Martin’s Fly-Ban along with ClariFly mineral blocks and loose minerals containing ClariFly. Between those and the RESCUE! Big Bag Fly Traps we hang around the farm, our fly population is almost nonexistent!

I’d say we’ve got a pretty good handle on the flies this year. 😎 What seems to work best for you?

We got these two older AHCA girls a few months back. They were exposed to the same bull our flystrike bull calf is out of. These two look like they are starting to bag up. I’m really hoping it isn’t just wishful thinking! I will be keeping y’all up to date on these two and hopefully someday soon I’ll be posting new babies! 🤞🏻
