We have a lot of new followers so now is a good time for another introduction! Also, one of the questions I am asked the most is how we tell our chickens apart. Allow me to explain!

Gemini- main character energy, slightly crooked comb.

Ophelia- blonde chin/neck since she was small and has always been the easiest to spot.

Stella- has the most black on her head, neck, and chest.

Astrid- only chicken with a completely grey head, neck, and chest. Also the other hen that has been brooding with Phoebe and a second mother to the baby chicks. She has been less consistent and dedicated than Phoebe though.

Nova- has a black chin/neck.

Zenon- the blondest on the head and neck. Can be easily confused with Venus, but Zenon has black in her tail feathers while Venus has grey.

Ariel- the red head of course. Like her mama πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Venus- the other blonde one with the grey tail feathers. Easily confused with Zenon.

Phoebe- our mama hen. Has been patiently sitting on eggs for 5 weeks now and has hatched 3 (with a little help from Astrid.) She has more of an orange head and a little bit of a black chin/neck.

Peter is our only rooster. Obviously not going to be confused with the hens with that giant comb and beard and pretty prominent green tail feathers.

We will likely wait to name the baby chicks until they get bigger and we can tell whether they are hens or roosters. And there may be more of them to come, we will wait and see!

While marking the eggs under the hens, I found that we have a 3rd little baby that has hatched! 🐣
