It’s been a hot minute since we’ve given an update from the fields, so here it is!
First of all…what a GORGEOUS golden hour last night! Secondly, we’re officially starting to see that fall transition happening in the fields. Lots of dried grasses, happy greenery, and little pops of color are starting to show up as everything gets ready for another round of blooms. And honestly, we’re taking that as a very good sign that the comeback is coming, just waiting for the cooler weather to settle in.
We did plant one row specifically for a sweet early-October ceremony, and that little row is currently blooming beautifully. It’s nowhere near the size of our summer fields, but it sure is pretty right now!
As for the rest of the fields, we’re anticipating a good amount of blooms throughout October. The timing varies a little from year to year, but if you’re hoping to catch the fields at their best, we recommend aiming for mid-to-late October. Typically, we’ll continue seeing blooms into early November, but once that first frost hits, that’s a wrap for the season.
We know we have some wet and windy weather headed our way this week, but we’re not too worried about the flowers. At this point, they’re pretty well conditioned for whatever Mother Nature throws at them. At worst, we may see a few areas lay over, but give them a little sunshine and they usually perk right back up. (People are the same.)
October is honestly one of our favorite months for wildflowers. For one, you’re no longer dripping in sweat just standing outside (HOLY HOT SUMMER), but the explosion of blooms that comes with cooler weather is just unmatched.
So here’s hoping October brings us the comeback we’ve been waiting for! 🌸
