Baker Distributing We are family owned since 1965; supplying the finest beverages to VT. Baker Distributing is a Vermont family owned and operated business.

Founded in 1965 by brothers David Baker Sr. and Joseph Baker Jr, they strived to satisfy the need for diverse beverages to be available to consumers in Vermont. Started with only 3 employees in Rutland, hard work and great brands have allowed for growth that covers the whole state with over 220 hard working Vermont employees. We currently provide service to licensed accounts in our entire state from our 2 in-state warehouses in Colchester and North Clarendon. Our portfolio contains the finest b**r, c***r, w**e and non alcoholic beverages available in Vermont to satisfy the most discerning customer. We currently represent diverse brands from the following popular categories:

*Craft
*Imported
*Domestic
Each of these categories has many sub categories. While many brands have come and gone over the years, the Bakers have believed that “brand building” was and will continue to be a key to our success. Along with that premise and the dedicated service from our employees, we will continue to help grow both new items and existing brands in Vermont. Currently, the second generation is overseeing day to day operations, supported by a management team with unparalleled experience in the beverage industry. David Baker Jr and Mike Baker each have over 20 years in the family business, and will continue to operate the company as a family business. In selling alcoholic beverages, we are one part of the valuable and accountable “3 Tier system” of Supplier, Distributor and Retailer established by the 21st amendment of the Constitution. We comply with Vermont and Federal laws that mandate how and to whom we can sell our products. We only sell to Vermont licensed accounts, approved by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control.

There’s a lot behind a great b**r, including the people who make it and the partnerships that help it reach your glass. We appreciate the care the Lawson’s Finest Liquids team brings to both.

Their annual distributor summit, The Big Sip, brought everyone together to share ideas, talk through challenges, and look ahead to another year. Making time for those conversations says a lot about how they do business, and we’re proud to be part of it.

Bringing home Lawson’s 2026 Wholesaler of the Year recognition made it an especially memorable gathering for Baker Distributing. Thank you to the Lawson’s team for the recognition and hospitality, and to our own team for the work that earned it!
