True tails of two Seagull Heathens…. Got to love their natural instincts…..
These dogs are NOT for everyone……
I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A POMERANIAN. 🤦♀️🐾
It’s Skeeter’s 6th birthday, and apparently, the boys decided this was the perfect weekend to test my sanity.
Let’s recap the last 48 hours.
Chirp ran into a boulder with his face, hurt his eye, and acquired a limp.
Skeeter lost some fur and acquired a puncture wound during a disagreement over a pig ear.
And tonight? Tonight was special.
An innocent snake made the unfortunate decision to slither across our back porch. It wasn’t bothering anybody. It had places to be. A life to live.
Unfortunately, Chirp smelled it. It reeked of skunk!
Before I could even identify the snake, Chirp had launched a full-scale attack. If you’ve never witnessed a Jack Russell violently shake a snake into pieces, consider yourself fortunate.
I chased that dog around the yard IN THE DARK with a shovel. I offered treats. I offered CHEESE. I demanded “leave it” and “drop it”. Nothing. Absolutely nothing was going to separate Chirp from his prize.
And then HE ATE THE SNAKE. 😳 🤮 Shredded it and ran with the pieces each time I got close enough.
Meanwhile, birthday boy Skeeter, who prefers not to participate in actual snake hunting, was following behind, enthusiastically rolling in the leftover guts.
Did I mention this snake smelled like a SKUNK?
I finally managed to get both hooligans locked inside, grabbed a flashlight, and proceeded to search every inch of the yard for the remains of the deceased.
And yes, I found several pieces.
So there I was, in the dark, conducting a full-scale snake-remains recovery operation, using a shovel to launch assorted body parts over the fence.
Just another relaxing Saturday evening with Jack Russells. 🤦♀️
Then came bath time. One dog sporting a beard full of snake remains and the other wearing the leftovers like birthday cologne.
Both required baths because these two heathens sleep in MY BED.
And after eating an entire snake, Chirp proceeded to eat more supper and settle down with a bully stick.
Not a care in the world.
Skeeter is six today. Chirp has approximately five snake kills under his belt. And I continue to question every decision I’ve ever made regarding Jack ownership.
I wanted sweet little companion dogs.
Instead, I got two fearless, four-legged maniacs with zero survival instincts.
I may need a drink after all this. And I don’t even drink. 😂
I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A POMERANIAN. 🤣🐍🎂❤️
