What is it about hot humid weather and cold cold wine? Any beverage can be served cold. Beer, lemonade, iced tea anyone? Is it the color? Is it the statuesque glass? The condensation forming? Maybe it is the bright acidic bight just before the refreshing fruitiness of the grape takes over. I'm not really sure that I can pinpoint the exact thing, but I do know that when all of these things are put together it just works; it works incredibly well. It works so well that I think I will take about an hour or so and deeply ponder the nuances of this thought. Or better yet, I'll just enjoy the moment and watch the sun set with a glass of wine. Looks like another win/win summer evening! This is a great weekend to practice your summer wine enjoyment. Come on out or try it at home!

Wednesday evening 5pm to 8pm is a great time to do some wine tasting! We will be at The Design Bar by Roost in Cape Girardeau. Wine tasting (free), a food truck, and a really cool place to enjoy both as well as see some incredible displays. You will get a first glimpse of the return of a very nice semi-dry white wine, Vidal Blanc. Also, the release of the 2020 Chambourcin is here. It is a dandy. We will also have a variety of other types and styles of our locally produced wines.

Ten years ago today we had the privilege of continuing River Ridge Winery. We sincerely appreciate all of the wonderful people that have made it possible. We look forward to many more years of great wine, food, friends, family, music, laughter, and all of the other aspects of owning and operating our little winery in the hills of southeast Missouri.

It is spring and the flowers are out. Some are more vibrant than others. I was tempted to say some are prettier than others, but that wouldn't be the best way to describe it. You see, most people look at these beautiful and bright Irises and are rightly attracted to them visually. However, the wine lover and grape grower look at the grape inflorescence and sees past the drab green and eventual tiny nondescript flowers to come and sees a delicious glass of wine on a future spring day. Which one is right? You can be the judge. I know my choice every time. 🍷🍷🍷
