Unless you are the Duke boys, I would not recommend trying to cross the bridge on County Highway 318/Roth Drive about a mile north of the winery. Also, if you get that reference, you probably are due for a colonoscopy or some other medical checkup. LOL There are no signs up at Highway N yet. Construction just started this week.

After a few false starts the bridge work on County Highway 318/Roth Drive has begun. If you normally come in from the north through Scott City it is best to stay on Highway N all the way down to Highway E, take a left, and come in through Commerce just like in the old days.

If you come in from the south you will not be affected.

Another option is to take the new Kelso exit off I55 and go left, stay on Highway PP regardless of what your GPS says, and you will come to the stop sign at Highway N. Go right down the hill and left on Highway E and come in through Commerce. This route takes the same amount of time as going through Scott City anyway.

Honestly, I don't think it's so bad out. It is August, and it is a bit warm. That's expected. I did have to laugh last week. I was talking to a couple from somewhere in west Texas where it is very hot but dry, and they confirmed that it is "not the heat; it's the humidity." They looked like they were going to melt. In their opinion 114+ degrees dry was better than 90 degrees with high humidity because "at least you can breathe" and "sweating will actually cool you down." Otherwise, they enjoyed their trip.

To beat the heat, we are changing the schedule this weekend.

Saturday Callie & Kevin perform from 1pm to 4pm.

Sunday Tim Crosby performs from 1pm to 4pm.

There is a lot going on around here this weekend. We will close early (4pm) this Friday, 8/7/26, for a local event. Don't worry!!! We are back at it for our regular hours after that. As a matter of fact we have a couple events of our own Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday Southern Draw performs from 2pm to 6pm.

Sunday Ivas John & Jason Heeter perform from 2pm to 6pm.

Attention:

There is a bridge closing for repairs for the next few weeks starting Monday 8/10/2026. There are two (2) alternate routes to get here. If coming up from the south you are not affected. If coming from the north just continue on Highway N to either Roth Drive and follow the signs or continue south on Highway N to E into Commerce and up County Road 321. Either way is very easy.

I took this picture on a very hot and humid day. It was perfect for that day. I was going caption it as "You are getting thirsty...very thirsty." It was supposed to remind you of how great a cold class of wine is on a hot day. Well, it seems that won't be an issue this weekend. It is supposed to be overcast and in the upper 70's Saturday and Sunday. We all need to meet at the winery and see if a glass of cold wine works under those circumstances too. I'm betting that it does, especially if you add in some great food and music!

Saturday Joy Brooker performs from 2pm to 6pm.

Sunday Misty & Vince perform from 2pm to 6pm.

It's fun seeing what children will play with. We keep kid toys around for the grandchildren, but with the right amount of imagination it turns out that anything will work. Last weekend was a good example. Young Evie wanted to help Memaw in the hut. All that she needed was water, used corks, a scoop, and an ice bucket. This worked for about an hour. It won't be long before she can work the register, too. That's the type of screen time kids really like, right? This family business stuff is a blast!

Also, we have a new sparkling sangria option by the bottle. It was a small bottling run, so get it while it lasts.

What a week! We have had a lot of interesting days here at the Winery, but this week was extra special. We could discuss wild weather and flooding, but the best day was Hunting Clay. I am sure you have heard of "shooting clays" or "Sporting Clays." That is a fun shooting sport involving shotguns and little round clay targets flung at various angles that the shooter tries to break. I have heard it described as "Golf with a Shotgun." It's a blast. LOL What we did was actually hunt clay but not for sport. We hunted clay to use in stoneware wine cups. We have had them before, and they quickly sold out. Never fear! The good folks at Fox Stoneware Mo are back at it and will soon have another round of these incredible drinking vessels. I have heard they can be used for drinks other than wine, too, but why would anyone want to do that?

Saturday Southern Draw performs from 2pm to 5pm.

Sunday Ivas John & Jason Heeter perform from 2pm to 5pm.
