I was going through photos and found these of Ferdinand. born a single calf to a 17 year old cow. At a month old he became a triplet after spending time in the barn for a spinal infection. The twins were orphaned when their mother was hit while eating at a feed through panel, she died instantly and we began feeding them bottles. Ferdinand's mom quickly adopted them after she found that she couldn't keep them from nursing. The happy family thrived on pasture alone and at weaning all 3 calves weighed just over 500 pounds. Ferdinand became a herd sire for a few years before finishing out his breeding career at the Gadbois Farm. He sired easy fleshing, highly marbled calves. He was a good boy! Miss you buddy.

These yearlings are putting on weight nicely. It's a friendly bunch too.

Hopefully someone recognizes this person in this quit distinctive hoody. They ripped off the face of our farm store meter, knocking out power to the store. I'm just bummed the K-9 didn't find them. Keep an eye out.

It's super dry here in Concrete. We cannot wait for fall rains to return. We are weaning this Saturday and I have heard next week will be cooler with a wet pattern returning for early September.
