Q: Do you grow Red Haven peaches?

A: Yes! We grow several different varieties of peaches, including Red Haven.

However, Red Haven peaches are not the best peaches available. There, I said it. Some of you are now mad. Others of you just fell off your chair. Get up and keep reading.

Just like the car you used to drive that you loved, the Red Haven is the peach many people grew up on that was juicy and delicious. It has a place of nostalgia. Don't get me wrong. It's still a tasty peach. My MG Midget is still fun to drive, too. That doesn't mean I want to drive it all the way across the country or make it my daily driver. Why? Cars have improved since 1974. There are new models available with improvements and features. Auto door locks. Power windows. Airbags. You get the point. Peaches have improved too. Longer picking seasons, improved disease resistance, improved cold hardiness (big improvement), better taste, and better freestone traits. (That's a post for another day.)

Many of you want peaches in June long before Red Haven peaches are ripe in Indiana. You also come into the farm market this week looking for Red Havens long after their window is over. How do we keep peaches in the market? We grow and source over 8 different varieties of peaches that span an 8 to 10 week ripening window.

So when you come to the farm market and ask for a Red Haven, and I tell you there are other better peaches, don’t give me the side eye. I know you love them. I do too. I also know most of you didn’t drive your favorite vintage car to the farm market. Try something new. I think you will find the other peaches are tasty and delicious too. I won’t even judge you if you eat one on the way home in your air-conditioned car.

BLUEBERRIES! - New Product - We have a limited supply of blueberries in the market. If they are anything like the limited supply of cherries we had, they will sell out quickly.

Peaches - We have more peaches in the market. We will sell out of peaches by the end of the weekend, so don't wait.

Apples - Paula Red, Zestar, Honeycrisp, Gala, Ozark Gold (All grown in our orchard)
Pears - Bartlett (All grown in our orchard)
Produce - Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Banana Peppers, Poblano Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini (All grown in our greenhouse)

Did you know that we highlight fresh Peaches the whole month of August? 🍑
With multiple varieties of freestone peaches, we are able to have peaches for several weeks. In addition to our regular cider slushies, we also offer peach cider slushies throughout the month of August as well. We have about 10 more days to celebrate peach season!

Thinking about a peach cobbler, peach pie, peach crisp, or just fresh peach for eating? Pick some up in our orchard farm market today.

We just added some other produce from our greenhouse including Tomatoes, Jalapenos, and Banana Peppers!

Peaches - Yep, we have them! The more you buy, the cheaper they get. Go in with your friends and get a whole bushel for the best price.

Apples - We have several varieties in the market. (Lodi, Paula Red, Summer Rambo, Zestar, Gala)

Cider - Stocked and ready.

It's rained a lot, but we are open and stocked. Hopefully, we won't have to pick apples from a boat.

We've had 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours in the orchard, but the Farm Market is OPEN! Apple Harvest is underway, and we have tons of Peaches!

The Peaches currently in the market are John Boy and Red Haven!
John Boys are freestone peaches and are grafted to have all of the same qualities as a Red Haven, but are more disease resistant. In a side by side comparison you can't tell the difference.

There are new varieties of apples arriving each week in the market. We now have Zestar, Summer Rambo, Paula Red, a few remaining Lodi, and the first picking of the early Gala Apples.
Zestar is a cousin to the Honeycrisp and comes out of the same breeding program at the University of Minnesota. The Zestar has a bit more of a lemon zest flavor in its profile, but we like to consider it an early version of a Honeycrisp.
