Backyard Bison

Backyard Bison We raise American Plains Buffalo and sell this extraordinary meat at our farm (Springfield Township, Bucks County) every Saturday 10:30-3:30. Thanks, Rod

Visit www.backyardbison.com for details. At Backyard Bison we raise the great American Bison and we sell Bison burgers, steaks, roasts, ribs, hot dogs, sausages, and jerky. Our Story:
Natural meat can only come from natural animals and bison are the only “cattle” that remain as mother nature intended. Bison have not been bred for production and domesticated like beef and dairy cattle. This is what

makes bison so special. They know what they need and how to balance their own diet. I have watched them pick single blades of grass from a clover patch. Backyard Bison is superior to “100% grass-fed” beef because our bison eat more REAL grass. “100% grass-fed” farms feed legumes (like alfalfa) and they graze brassicas (like turnips) but our bison know these are not grass. “100% grass-fed” farms also feed haylage or baleage which is forage preserved by fermenting in airtight plastic wrap, but our bison know that this is not natural to their diet and they would not find it in the wild. Many “100% grass-fed” farms also use some mono-culture pastures where the animals only have access to one type plant (common with summer annuals) but our bison always have access to a wide variety of real grasses so they can pick and choose what they need. We also do not feed any waste products (like spent brewers grains or vegetable scraps). If you are new to Backyard Bison, go through our old posts, there’s more information there about the bison and the farm. We have a store here at the farm that is open on Saturdays or by appointment. We offer bison burgers, steaks, roasts, ribs, sausages, hot dogs, jerky and more. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. See you soon,
Rod Wieder and family

This is what I found on the USDA site today. I was looking for honest, reliable data for farm planning, but I got politicized propaganda. They radicalized the USDA. This is UN-American. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, why have you only been in Washington for 12 of the last 90 days? Obviously, your incompetent problem-solvers caucus and "art of the deal" President cannot close a deal on a continuing resolution, but why is Congress not working on the appropriation bills? Why are tax dollars spent to politicize the USDA with propaganda? How can I trust data/information from the USDA when it's clearly biased?

Remember Lemonade? She still thinks I am her Mom. This may look cute but she plays rough. Don't try this in Yellowstone.

Keeping the drinking water tanks clean is not the most fulfilling task on the farm, but this silly, simple, as seen on TV, Scrub Daddy makes my days a little easier. Sometimes it's the little things.

Well, at least it's never boring on the farm. This oak branch fell on the pasture fence. This was not on my "to-do" list when I woke up this morning, but the good news is that no bison jumped out, it was just one branch (the tree is still standing tall), I have a head-start on 2026-27 firewood, and my fence-building skills passed a major test.

I never wanted to raise a bottle calf, but we are figuring it out. I call her Lemonade because, well, when life throws you lemons...

Meet my high-maintenance sidekick: I found this orphan in the pasture on Mother's Day. Now I'm bottle-feeding a baby bison.

This always goes fast, but it is in stock now.

Bison, American History, and Ken Burns...I've had this marked on my calendar for awhile. I'm sure many of you will be interested in this film too, but Monday night is not going to work if you are a Phillies fan like me.
