Today is my last full day before surgery, and somehow my to-do list keeps getting longer. 😂🤪After surgery l’ll be back to doing everything one-handed until they take the splint off 😖

I got started on a ton of projects yesterday, and I did manage to finish one… the rabbit watering system! 🎉 Each cage now has both a bowl and a watering spout, so the rabbits have options. (The Angora rabbits got two bowls in their run!) The whole setup is gravity-fed from a 5-gallon bucket, making it super simple and easy to maintain.

Now I’m determined to spend today checking as many things off my list as possible before surgery.😂

Finally got the garden started! 🌱 A friend came over last week and we planted 26 tomato plants and 8 pepper plants! 🍅🌶️

There’s still so much more to plant, but these were the most important ones to get in the ground first.

Ignore all the surrounding weeds—that’s on next week’s list. 😂😂

A huge thank you to Tonya for coming over and helping me get everything planted! ❤️

This week I’ve been working on finishing up projects around the farm before surgery 🐓. I still have a few things left on my to-do list, but one project I’m especially excited about is upgrading our watering systems 💧.

The meat chickens already got their new waterers, and next up are the quail and rabbits.

For the quail, I’m setting up a barrel outside the building with PVC piping running along the back of all three cages 🪣.

The rabbits will have a bucket mounted above the cages with tubing running down to each one 🐰. They’ll have access to both a watering spout and a bowl.

Right now, every cage has its own waterer that has to be checked and filled individually every day. Once these systems are finished, each animal will still have its own water source, but I’ll only have one barrel for the quail and one bucket for the rabbits to fill.

It may not sound that exciting, but we can’t wait for this upgrade!🎉 😂 Now I just need to find a time when we aren’t living at the baseball fields so I can actually get it finished! ⚾️🤣

This weekend was busy but in a good way. 🌱🐓

We planted all my Mother’s Day flowers — purple fountain grass, elephant ears, and these pretty pink flowers.

I also picked up tomato and pepper plants. My seedlings are still tiny, but I’m not giving up on them yet 😅 We got the garden space weeded and ready for planting too.

The mini greenhouse is now a drying rack for rabbit grass, we also picked a lot of plantain for salve making, and it was finally time to move the meat birds down to the orchard.

We also scored some great thrift finds since everything at Thrift Works was 1/2 off 🙌

But the best part was the much needed family time. It was really nice to just work together, be outside, and enjoy a productive weekend at home. ❤️

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well 🥰

Hammie had her babies!!! 🐷❤️

She had 7 piglets mid-day on Saturday, and they are SO cute.

I was trying to halter Fonzie (who was cranky because he was the last one out of the pen 😅) when Addi noticed the piglets. I looked up and saw one little piglet in a gap under the edge of the shelter.

I left Fonzie and ran over to get it. The piglet was stuck, but I was able to get it out and give it back to Hammie. It’s totally fine now, but I’m so thankful we were out there and saw it in time. ❤️

Surgery update!!

I saw my surgeon on Wednesday and he said everything is looking really good. All the stitches are out now and the tissue is healing/growing well. 🙌

I got a call yesterday that my next surgery is scheduled for June 3rd. Hopefully my final surgery 🤞 This one will be for the skin graft.

Since I actually have some notice before this surgery, I’m trying to do my best to prepare ahead of time. Today my dad and I brought home a bunch of hay bales (which I can now carry one-handed 🎉😂), and then I spent the rest of the day cleaning and prepping food. I made cereal, 4 loaves of bread, cooked 7 pounds of ground venison, and shredded some chicken to freeze for quick meals later on.

I’ll probably pay for all that productivity with soreness and stiffness later 😂😖 but it felt really good to be able to get some normal things done, even though I still have so much more to do.

Tomorrow I’m planning to make a few more things, stock up on animal feed, and hopefully get some gardening done!!

Right as we were getting ready for dinner, we saw a beautiful rainbow. 🌈 Just a reminder that even in hard seasons, God is still so good!
