What a day! We attended one of our favorite shows of the whole year, the KY Mini Dairy Goat Classic! Yall know we are still finishing our juniors from last season before they kid 🤞😂. Since I don’t have milkers I spent the morning showing Mini Lamanchas for friends. I will admit, the height is niiiiice.

This afternoon we showed our juniors. To say we are proud of them would be a complete understatement. We are so very proud of our herd and the progression we have made. ❤️ Thank you to the judges, the volunteers, the committee and everyone who made the show possible. We appreciate you!!

Well I finally faced it and did the ultrasounds today. I cannot deny that the does were bred against my will…. (Bucks will be bucks …. Locks keep out honest people and fences keep out undetermined bucks 😂)

We had great plans to have milking does this season but our bucks breaking in the doe pen provided new plans. We now have does due to freshen between 6/1 and 7/1. Certainly not ideal but what can ya do?!

We showed up to the Southern Belle Showdown with 4 junior Nigerians and 2 junior Alpines. The last of our juniors from 2024 that had not gotten their dry leg. Today we showed them while they are bred and chunky 😂🤷🏻‍♀️. These does are not subpar by any means, we just didn’t get to show them last year. We retained 10 doelings and there are only 3 of us to walk goats making the choices of who to take limited.

What a whirlwind of a show!

This show has some of the toughest competitors in the region so we don’t ever plan to do well here. We show up to visit, cheer on and catch up with our friends. But our girls showed up. We were shocked, there were over 400 goats (Friday and Saturday) that walked in those rings. Thirty goats in the senior yearling class alone!! While we didn’t bring home any ribbons, I am certainly proud of our girls. We are honored to be in the top ten in any ring with you guys!!

River Goat Dairy Goat Show… that’s a wrap!

No dash ribbons to share 🤷🏻‍♀️ but we did have some decent placings.

Neu-Day CCS Tessa took 🥇 (Ring 1-TeCoa Stroda) and 🥈 (Ring 2- Todd Biddle).
Neu-Day MG Twilight took 🥉 and 4th place.

Our season is a little different this year than years past. We are showing does from February/March of 2024 that didn’t get a leg last season. Our smaller 2025 kids are on the end of the dates for their classes so they are outranked by size by as much as 6 months. It’s like putting up a battleship against a rowboat.

We had a great time and that’s sometimes all that matters. I did however win two raffle baskets! Pretty stoked about that!!

Maybe next weekend our girls might shine a little more, but if they don’t, we will love them just the same!! As always we couldn’t have done it without momma taking care of the does left at home! ❤️ Thank you for all you do for us!

This weekend was the first show for us for the 2026 season. We always enjoy the Saluki Showdown. We are super proud of our girls as everyone walked amazing for the first show. We didn't have any ballerinas, tumblers or alligators rolling. There were 427 goats at this show!!
